My boyfriend hates it when I go out?

My girlfriend wants me to meet her for a girls night and she lives in a college town so lots of guys. Well my boyfriend said he would break up with me if I went because he knows I will do something...he always does this whenever I am going out! I have never and would never cheat on him! What can I do to make him see that I wouldn't do that?

i have a friend with a boyfriend like this. they've been together so long that his jealousy and controlling behavior made her start acting the same way. now they don't let each other go out to parties or drink without each other, and they freak out if one of them chooses to hang with friends instead. at one point she was banned from hanging out with anyone if he wasn't there. there wa even some drunken violence at one point (accidental, but still. there's no excuse for that.) it's a vicious cycle. get out while you can.

you may be stronger than my unfortunate friend, but it's still a bad situation. get away from him. he's jealous and possessive and obviously has some issues of his own. people, as a general rule, don't change, as much as I wish that wasn't true. trust is the most important part of a relationship, and if for whatever reason he can't give you his, it's going to end badly for one or both of you.

i'm really sorry that you're in this position, I know from many personal experiences that it just really sucks. a lot. :(

your boyfriend is controlling and being tyranical. he can't possibly expect you to never go out, and to really think that it is acceptable to threaten to break up with you every time you go out. you deserve to enjoy your life and your boyfriend should know that he can't expect you to stay in a box out of his own insecurity. if he can't get over this irrational mentality then maybe he should not have a girlfriend? don't let him control you.

also I just wanted to add, that sometimes when a partner is hyper insecure about you cheating and always wants to know where you are and doesn't want you to go anywhere...it's because they are guilty themselves

This kinda looks like he's being possessive of you. He's not your father. Besides, if he broke up with you, he'd be missing out on his best thing. He has no right to insist that you stay there with him...he has serious trust issues. Maybe you should examine things a little bit. You're worth more than this and there is really no sense in trying to prove anything to him. If he doesn't know you by now...

And don't go making excuses for him either.

break up with him, the reason he is like this is probably because he's done something like this or even maybe its happened to him b4. but I'm thinking he may have cheated on a girl in the same type of way and knows what is possable. (sorry if I said that and I sound like a d!ck)

i had the same problam with trust for this guy but after him and I talk we lean how to truest each other .

You can't do anything. This is his issue. He's got to learn to trust you. If you can't trust your partner then there's no point in being in a relationship.

Did you just get him for Christmas or your birthday or something?
