He says he’s busy and I understand and respect his personal time but it seems like it’s becoming redundant? What should I do?

This guy I’m speaking to went overseas for his studies and every now and then he wouldn’t respond to my message and would just read it. He’d apologize and say its been hectic couple of days when messaging me back and I would understand because we all have our own lives and we get busy. Recently he just keeps being busy only sending me a message every 3/4 days and wouldn’t reply for another few days. I do appreciate that he apologizes each time but I feel like it’s becoming a habit? I do want him to think of me while busy with work and update me with how things are. What should I do? I do want us to communicate more but at the same time I want to give him the space he needs when he gets busy.

Ask yourself do you want to continue with this person? As somebody who is still 18-24, you have to understand as you get older, life get's tougher. This is not like middle school or high school where you had some time to be a kid. This is adulthood. And in adulthood, you may not speak to a person for this amount of time which is kinda normal, especially when working. I believe what you need to do is not get too attached to this person and find other people to occupy your time if social interaction is something you need the most. He will reach when he can. But don't expect much out of it right now. I say that at least he is trying to talk and not ignore you. You would not know if he was. Then you have to be concerned. As long as he is reaching out, all you can do is be patient. Think of this as a test. Are you a patient person? Every relationship familial, friendships, etc requires patience. If this is a level that is too hard for you, then it's best to not talk to people who go out of your reach or comfort zone.

He very well may be busy. I would just be open and ask him if he is able to find a little more time. Don't be pushy but ldr are tough and communication keeps them alive.
