Would you tell your boyfriend if you learned something about his family?

If you learned by chance something huge about your boyfriend's family. Would you tell him, taking the risk he didn't know it already?

I don't want to be too specific here but I don't know what to do.

It really depends on the context! Also how you came about knowing this information.


Maybe it’s a private family matter. Maybe he doesn’t want anyone, including you to know. Maybe it would make things difficult between you two and you and his family. And the people who told you.


Is it your business to tell him? Maybe the person who told you should be the one speaking to him and not spreading his business.


There are a lot of factors that come into play. Just tread very carefully and think hard about it.


Maybe think of it were you in his shoes how would you feel. But then again girls and guys are very different. Guys are more closed off.

Thanks, I heard from a neighbor and friend of his father. Not sure if it's true by the way. But she told me as if everyone was aware of it not like a secret
Of course it is not my business to tell him, but if it's true I think he deserves to know about it. And also I don't think he should learn it as I did

Yes, it is better than him feeling betrayed by you because you did not tell him sooner enough for him to talk things out with his family.

Tough question given you can't share many details. To help you arrive at a decision: tell or don't tell, it would help to think about what you want to accomplish by telling him. This isn't a question of honesty. It isn't dishonest if you don't share an unpleasant truth with your boyfriend. That's especially true if sharing with him would hurt him or his family members. If you tell him, will he have to do something as a result? Or, is it just repeating a salacious story? Do you have a sense of how he might respond?

Once you tell him, there's no going back. Your relationship will be forever changed. Maybe in a bad way.

Im worried to do that, that he will feel annoyed and hurt , i try to hide it or wait for the best time to talk about it but not fully
