Not a good idea. If they do drink they should not drink around the alcoholic.
I had an alcoholic girlfriend for many years. I drank casually myself but NEVER drank around her. It send the wrong message and is too much of a temptation.
If an alcoholic has not drank for 20 years I might drink casually around them. But that's too hypothetical to know for sure what I'd do. Although to be honest, I don't like drinking around other people no matter what the circumstance.
Yes, they can. Recovering alcoholics seldom drink simply because they see others drinking. It normally takes emotional stress or something like it to get them back on the bottle.
