Would You Die for the One You Love?

So I was listening to Hero (Enrique Iglesias, I like him) this morning and as you know, one of the lines go "now would you die for the one you love" and that made me think... people always talk about dying for their love in movies and such, but is that true?

I'm 19 and never really been truly in love, so maybe I just don't know it yet.

But would you really die for the one you love?

I consider myself very loyal and a very good friend, but I love living and I cannot imagine dying for anyone.. not even my baby brother, I would risk my life for him (already happened..) but I wouldn't take my life over his.

Does anyone here really love or has loved someone enough to actually value the other person's life over theirs?

I'd really like to know if there's truth to that famous phrase, or is it all phony?

And by dying for someone you love, I don't mean doing something dangerous that *could* kill you, I mean literally - would you die instead of them?

I understand this is a weird (and depressing haha) question.. but Enrique made me think about it :)

I think this fully depends on the personality of the person not even the strength of the love only, but I know I would put myself in harm's way and die instead of them. It isn't something that one likes to think about a lot I guess and at the moment I am not with anyone or in a predicament to have to think about it, but I know that I would - and I am a little confused by your wording, but I would willingly stand there and take he bullet instead of them if I was told it was me or them. If that answers your question because those that I care for and love mean more to me than my own life. I feel I have seen good and bad and lived not a long life apparently but I would sacrifice myself in order for them to have a full and happy life.

That really is something to think about. I think it really depends on the situation. ...and you can look at it many different ways.

I pretty much gave up a year of my life to a person I loved. He had so many problems and I cared so much about him, that I began to neglect my own life because I wanted to help him no matter what. I do regret it now because I realized I couldn't help him and I pretty much hate him now because of how selfish he was. But hey... we learn from our mistakes.

So yeah... dying for someone I love... I would die for anyone in my direct family (mom, dad, brother). Life is SO precious, and the lives of the ones I truly love mean more to me than anything else in the world, even my own.

To answer your question, Yes I would rather myself Die then the one that I truly Love. I don't know how to really explain it but When I am madly in love with a person I value their life more then my own.

Yes. Although I've never felt that way about a girl in a long time, I know that when I do settle down with a girl, it's gonna be one that I would be ready to die for if the situation ever happened.

I totally understand you couldn't imagine giving up your life for someone...

But it is true... I would die for the one I love.

I can't imagine my life without him, and I wouldn't want to.
