I am camping this weekend with my girlfriend and having a great time. I haven’t been camping in about 20 years but I always love it! Are you a camper?

I do like this. I have not sat out around a fire since I was with a recent ex. But man I am wanting to! I also LOVE to sit or lay out under the moon and stars. I am a big nature person and like outdoors. Hiking? Y-E-S! Bonus points if a waterfall is involved!
I am not aware of any waterfalls in the state of Florida!
Oh there are some! Rainbow Springs in Dunnellon is one. And of course, the infamous Falling Waters State Park in Chipley - the only place in Florida you can see a 70-foot fall! These are bucket list places FOR SURE!!!
The waterfalls at Rainbow Springs are manmade. Falling Waters State Park is currently closed for road construction. But I will try to visit Falling Waters when it re-opens.
Man-made, natural... either is great to view! But yes, natural are indeed something extra special. Hopefully Falling Waters opens back up soon so you can visit!
Been a while. I want a camp fire buddy and s'mores.

Last year 2021 Fall leaves change…
The last time was in the early `00's. We just finished playing a gig in Erie, one of our homes away from home, for our label, Eerie records and the drummer from one of the other bands was having a party at his place so, we went there and he had a campfire in the yard next to his house. He'd JUST decided, at the party, to break up with his girlfriend and had a bunch of guys at the party help him take the couch and a matching chair out to the fire to burn it. When his girlfriend got home a few hours later, she was SEVERELY pissed!! I think that's when the party came to a grinding halt!
There was a cute girl at the gig who called herself, Abercrombie, and she ended up at the party and I found her and some other guy hiding under a huge fir tree fucking
The one before that was in the late `90's in Dec.. On the 7th, I believe. We just finished a gig in Youngstown at the Penguin Pub, our other home away from home, and someone there wanted to have a yard party at their place about a half hour drive away. In fact, where we were, you could actually see the lights from Hubbard, Pa. and still be in Ohio! It was a particularly warm night!! It was still in the mid 70's when we got to this house but, the wind kicked up over night and it quickly dropped to the 50's by morning. A campfire was lit and we all ran around in this big yard still wearing t-shirts and shorts in Dec. as we played Frisbee for a while. I went for a stroll in some path behind the yard and someone found a dead animal! I seem to recall it being a pig! My bass player decided to give it burial by fire and she had someone take it to the campfire to give it a send-off.
The one before that was in `85, we went to a friends house to spend the night and they built a campfire in the back yard.
I'm sure I've been to others before that but don't recall where or when.
It’s been years, maybe a good 15 years, since I sat around a fire like that. I live in a city, and the suburban sprawl is so massive that I have have to drive at least 2 hours from my house to reach more rural areas where open campfires are permitted. Whenever I have gone camping, a few times in the last 10 years or so, it’s been during a drought and a fire ban is in place. Just my luck, I guess.
My very first job, that I did for 3 summers, was working at a sleep away girl’s summer camp. It was so nice to spend the entire summer out of the city, mostly away from my family. One of my duties was to help light campfires and set them up safely - it’s really important to have a huge bucket of sand, a fire extinguisher, and water available just in case. Things can go very wrong, very fast with open fire pits.
We might try to do some fall camping if there’s time. And I want it to be a TRUE camping experience - no computer, no internet, no texting, no phone except for emergencies, etc. I can’t wait to light a fire. As an avid teenaged camper, I started taking a mason jar with me. I would collect some ash the next morning after a fire, and save it. Before I lit my next fire, I would take those ashes and throw them in the pit, and so on. I still have the jar with the ashes from the last fire I went to.
Omg that’s awesome!
Not a “camper” yet, but once I get a decent dog breed, I’ll try to make camping a tradition. 💪
Last time I was around a fire, was this July. It’s usually reserved for summers. 🤔 (s’mores/ holidays/ beach bonfires)
Hope you both absolutely enjoy it 🤟😁
Yes, I'm back home now, and we had a good time!
We go camping in the desert occasionally when the weather is cooler. We went recently with some others and got our telescopes out to view Jupiter in the clear sky. It was closer to Earth than it has been in awhile.
Looks like it spit out a seed!
@Massageman That is the biggest freestanding rock in the US. It's footprint is over 5,000 sq, feet. and is named Giant Rock - naturally. That scab came off because people used to make campfires under neath it. It cracked and fell off.
That's two-and-a-half of my homes!
I love camping. I sit there and play with the fire. I really like it when I'm far enough from society that I can actually see stars in the sky again and every little shooting star flying into our atmosphere. Sometimes I'll just set aside some meat just for that that time. I like to sip on some whiskey during that time as well. It's like true relaxation.
It's been awhile. My SO and I don't go camping but we do have a firepit in our patio and it's getting cooler (and darker now) so I think we're going to have some nice fires soon.
When we went up to the mountains in June, the place we stayed at had a firepit and we had some very enjoyable fires on the cool clear nights, under the stars.
You’ve been talking about your girlfriend for the past couple of years. Maybe it’s time you guys settled down together. You’re 67, don’t let happiness pass you by.
That is under consideration.
67 ? what are you guys going to have your wedding at the hospice
@moosesixty I am healthy, active, working full time, doing volunteer work, and otherwise doing well. She is 59 and equally healthy.
I'm obviously being overly sarcastic IG humor leaves the body at age 50 or 55 thanks for the insight
I haven't been camping since I was a kid, but I do love campfires. I'd like to go sometime, I just have no one to go with.
I can have campfires in my backyard anytime, so I guess I'm spoiled in that way.
I love camping is so fun and enjoyable. The sex is invigorating. Arising early in the morning to see the sunrise. See the morning dew. Fix the morning meal of hotcakes eggs bacon maybe sausage and fried potatoes. Be free of all technically equipment. Not missing the office and the stress.
I went camping with my late mom, sister, and neighbor and her two kids it was a good time I don't think we had a campfire but that's a great idea, hope you both have a great time I was young when we last went camping.
About 10 years ago at a sister camp fire church event. I. was young lol Bible study scripture topics lunch yeah I wasn't depressed back then I was always happy around my friends. Every thing change as you get older sad.
I have a fire pit in my own backyard, so quite often... every couple of weeks. In fact hoping to make some food in a week or two, tin foil dinners and such on them when I feel up to it.
Are you sure you're describing a fun situation because I was homeless for a short amount of time and it sounds like the exact same description
@moosesixty Homelessness adds extreme anxiety to your life. It's an existential crisis. No one can have have an enjoyable experience in that situation.
I've only ever gone camping twice back in school always loved it and when I start driving in going to do it every year
My friends and I rented a cabin at a place called Hocking Hills back in June. We sat around a fire every night of that trip. That was the last time.
I camp in my back yard or only for a few hours, we did this within last few months. I like having a bathroom and comfy bed around.
Glad you are having a good time with your girlfriend!
i haven't for years but am seriously desperite to go camping again even at 33 camping is good at any age
I can't sleep in a tent because I'm afraid of bugs, but I've always wanted to sit by the campfire.
Just a couple of weeks ago on a small beach with a group of friends.
It was the year before the pandemic i think. Around Easter time or Thanksgiving maybe.
I am a camper. I haven't sat around a fire with friends since last winter.
Well then you are overdue.
I have never been camping but I have a fire pit in my backyard. I started a fire last night. I love sitting outside by the fire on a chilly night having a beer
Did a firepit in my yard tonight. Does that count?
It’s been way too long I can tell you that much.
I did a few weeks ago with some friends.
Haven’t actually gonna camping in years tho
Gone*
The end of July upstate New York at my cousins on his several acres of farm property, had a fire pit going having s’mores
Been a while, not since July long weekend. Been a fire ban on all summer
Camping sounds cool, but I'm afraid of being attacked by an animal, or a psychopath. People who camp are brave people to me.
I think my last was in the first year of classroom.
Probably at summer camp when I was about 8 years old.
Put your phone away, @OlderAndWiser!! LOL
Unfortunately, I feel and bruised my hip on Thursday so, at the moment, I can’t be as active as I would prefer.
@OlderAndWiser Aww; I'm sorry to hear that! I hope it gets better soon.
Just an ugly contusion on an inglorious part of my body. And a bruised ego!
@OlderAndWiser Aww. Shake it off, partner! You'll be alright! 💪
Indeed I will be!
:) .
I've never been camping
