What are triggers for cheating? Barriers from cheating?

What are some reasons or triggers that result in people cheating? Based on what you've known, heard, and/or your own experience.

Is it because sex with your partner is not good? Or is it not just about sex, relationship or love is not going well? Being mad and wanting revenge to partner? Just the sole reason of heat of the moment?

And what are some barriers or protective factors from cheating, let's say if there's a person and scenario that could've led to cheating, heat of the moment, etc. but not carried out on your end.

Thinking of your partners' or significant others' positive aspects? Your partner's sexual side being good that you won't need anybody else. More than sex, your partner's love is better?

My partner seems to have a lot of friends, and female friends, whom he hangs out with, alone, with alcohol present, at late night till morning. He said he's a new version of himself and would give his partner 100%, but I don't know if I can really trust him with all that stimuli and opportunities to cheat.

It’s a question of are you a narcissistic psychopath or are you not? Normal people don’t cheat on their partners. Those who do are mentally disturbed individuals who lack empathy, conscience, concern for others and a lot of the time also lack impulse control. They decide they have the right to betray someone who trusts them and gives zero fucks about how that person will/would feel about it. Just like is always the case with psychos of that sort, it’s the same when it cones to other things as well.

So in your opinion, if a person wasn't as you described, do you believe that even if he hung out with multiple female friends on different occasions, sometimes alone, with alcohol present, at late night till morning, he still would not cheat?
