Screwing up a good thing vs. gamboling on something that was great?

Anonymous

10 years ago I was involved with a woman who was 10 y younger for about 2,5 years. It was the best and simultaneously the worst relationships ever. On one side it was so intense, passionate (never before or again), sextually heated (never before or after) and generally made me feel like I was in love and like I was high. On the other hand I also felt confused, like I was crazy and generally like being kicked in the groin. Probably because she was action packed with problems, from starting by cheating on her boyfriend (I didn't know), to having family issues because of a father with metal issues who committed suicide, to a mother who weird (not a good role model).
But whenever I remember being with her it makes me think about what a how relationships should feel like. When you're together it's always like you're in love, you need each other like air, you connect so deeply that it hurts to be apart and feels like you're on drugs together. Honestly I wanted to be with her for the rest of my life and so did she, when she was coherent.

Anyway we stopped seeing each other about 7 years ago, after she had gone trough several back and forth. So I put a stop to it, where we just fell out of touch and we didn't see each other. Apart for than a few of times on the street, driving passed each other (don't know if she saw me).

I am in a long term relationship, I love her, we live together and also have a business together, a life together. Something you don't screw with even if not perfect.

Last year I went to a concert and saw my ex, just saw her, picked her out from a crowd by shape, voice, etc., saw her back only at a distance. Never talked to her, but a few days later she sends me a friend request on FB (canceled after 2 months). Didn't confirm, didn't want the problems.

Still the questions and memories remain.

What if? Why?

After so much time and bad blood?

Any ideas?

Not worth screwing up a good thing to find out, right?

Thanks for the opinion.
