If you mean any relationship has rules, limitations, and tolerances, then yes, you can't just be your single self in your behaviour but the core of who you are is the same.
You find someone that seems roughly what you need and spend the next few years negotiating and moulding them as best you can, with them doing the same to you.
Successful relationships involve each of you finding a middle ground in which you are comfortable.
