Why do people get mad when you say "the juice isn't worth the squeeze"?

Don't take this personal this isn't an attack on anyone. But why do people get mad when you say the juice isn't worth the squeeze. You're not saying they're worthless. You're simply saying thier bad points outweigh thier good points.

Why don't people take that as a positive that they can improve? Shouldn't everyone want to improve?

Because it's a sexual, dehumanizing phrase.

Just say that it's not worth the fight or it's not worth your tears. Very attractive, kind phrases. They might even comfort the listener.

Despite what anyone says, we want to be cared for. We want to feel valued.

I’ve never heard the expression used in reference to relationships before. I’ve only heard it in reference to level of work effort not being worth the outcome. I can understand why it would be upsetting though, that’s just a long winded way of telling someone she or he isn’t worth it.

Not "not worth it". But thier overall bad points outweigh thier good ones.
This has never happened to you with a friend or a SO where you cared about them a great deal. They were great in so many ways, but they had glaring deficiencies that you couldn't overlook?

"Not worth it" is literally in the expression you're using. It's really a bad way to put it directly toward someone if you indeed care about them a great deal. I never felt the need to get specific with a date, it just isn't working out is all I'm going to say.
