Is it strange that I don't want a wife who will cook for me or clean the house?

I feel like women try to mother you when they do that kind of stuff. I want my girlfriend/wife to be an actual partner and not just a second mother.

It only means that you are an emotionally stable and mature man and wants a partner who can be equal to you who can walk with you shoulder to shoulder. But make sure you really want that... cuz the woman you want has very strict boundaries and happens to be stubborn and at time controlling.

i don't think it's strange at all. i don't care if my wife cooks and cleans. but i have no expectation that she do it. the only expectation is that we both do our share and generally the assignment of work is based on who is best at it. i'm a far better cook than my wife so i tend to handle that in our household

on the other hand my wife is generally better at straightening up the house so she does that... except bathrooms. i'm bit of a neat freak about bathrooms so i handle that

Keep in mind she might enjoy being helpful and kind. Not all individuals who don't mind helping with household tasks are trying to be maternal.

That is a ignorant way to look at it. Just because your mom did something doesn't mean it is "mom like" when your partner does it. If you make your partner a meal or provide for her that doesn't make you her dad does it?
