It's a Rollercoaster of a ride. You have many ups and downs because you're not seeing them everyday. It can be very challenging especially when one may be more outgoing than the other so you have to worry about constantly if they may find someone else that is closer. That's why communication is key. It helps keep things stable in the relationship and keeps a bond going between you two. You need to communicate at least once out of the day via phone calls, texting, or video chats. Trust is another big factor. If there's no trust or if there's doubt, then it's not going to work.
For example, me and my boyfriend are long distance and he goes out quite a lot to the bar and that requires a lot of trust. He had a girl come onto him once and he told me about it. He didn't do anything and I believed him. He says his friends would have killed him if he had done anything because they know about me. Plus he says he is too much in love with me to ever do something like that.
Bottom line communication and trust is key.
They are pointless and will not work. There is no physical contact.
