He says he loves me but we can't be together?

We can't be together because he wants kids in the future. I can't have children and made my peace with the fact that it won't happened.

However he says he loves me and I know he does. I love him too.

The other day he said we should be together for the time being until we meet other people. For him it would be someone to have kids with and for me someone who doesn't want them.

I don't know what to do. Should I go for it or cut off contact even though he's the perfect partner for me in every way except for one?

No. Go your separate ways. More than likely you’re going to be the one who gets hurt the worst. As time goes on together your feelings will develop more for him, maybe his will too. But I’m betting yours will be far more greater than his. I know it feels bad now but imagine what it would feel like a year from now, or even two years depending on how long it takes to meet someone. Besides what happens if he meets someone right away and you don’t, or vice versa? Now you’re just an even sadder lonely being. If I was you I’d starting looking for your one.

Or try to adopt a kid and start a family with him

Be honest and discuss your long term future, just just fall for short term

Please cut off contact, you’re only going to make the process of splitting up so much harder. How can you accept the fact that it’s over if you don’t make any changes? How would you comfortably navigate knowing he’s back on the market and at any given moment he will cut ties completely? I just think it’s better to amicably go your separate ways and heal.
