It's just the SMV (sexual marketplace value) allowing it right now and it depends on where you live in the world.

If a war were to swipe a bunch of us men off the table, those laundry lists of demands that you see them make on profiles would dwindle along with their options.

Also, I think women working more has brought up the standards to be met. A chick that at one time would just be grateful for a roof over her head and taken care of is now a chick that probably already has that covered... so her standards go up. There's a word for it that's slipping my mind right now...

This word describes the psychological factor of a woman's desire to always 'date up' rather than date at her own level. Since our culture tends to place so much value on how much we make as in $$$$, and now she probably makes some $$$$, the result is her demanding even more $$$$ out of her choice of men. And if it isn't $$$$, you gotta be like me and hit the weights more than any average man does.

Woman are picky in dating because they don't want to be put into a position where they have to make sacrifices because of decisions made by a deadbeat dude.

Think about it this way, if a girl gets into a relationship, gets pregnant, then the guy walks away, what position does that leave her in for the rest of her life? One the other hand for guys after you drop your seed in her if you walk away you never have to deal with the outcome.

Not saying that is you but women have to be more protective of their future than guys do.

According to my observations, men don't ask much in the beginning, but as the time goes by and they settle onto the relationship they ask more and more till you are driven bat-shit insane.
Moreover, I would much prefer it if they had set those standards from the beginning, rather than attempting to change said person later on just because personality-wise they don't match.

Summer of love is right. When he says standards, I think he means to raise your standards in terms of a girl’s character. Lower them in terms of looks. You could date someone cute rather than hot, if you’re a little bit attracted to them.

Because girls are well aware of the fact that a guy's only function in life is to pleasure them sexually. They've seen enough porn to know that if a guy isn't willing to submit to their every whim, he's not worth their time. They've learned that all they have to do is throw a fit and the guy will cave, sometimes even agreeing to go down on them in public or do other degrading things just to get some action. So, girls are just being smart and realistic, knowing that they hold all the power in the relationship.

Women have much more to loose. Add to the fact thats just how males and females act biologically. If we look at the dumbed down basics a male is content with just spreading his seed or creating his offspring. A female on the otherhand has to carry that offspring and worry about its and her own survivbility. This underlying instict is why women tend to be more picky than men even in modern society and it doesn't matter if she wants kids or not they have a need for a partner that can give them security.

You have to understand relationships are more emotional to women and more physical to men (granted these are generalizations). That is not even remotely true.

Often both men and women have a lot of standards, yet do not at the same time. Some are similar and some are not. Sure, outliers do exist for both low/high standards, but it is normal to have some.

Also, it is not a bad thing to have standards, as relationships can lead to having marriage and children long term. You want to have a strong compatibility and ideally chemistry too, so that you are less likely to divorce.

Hate to say, but it's because of social media.. It's made more women develop narcissistic tend because of the easy attention many get.. It's cause them to develop standards higher than they themse have.. Whereas men are constantly told we need to catch up, and level up..
