Guys who want a traditional woman, are you willing to be a more traditional man?

There's a lot of questions on here of men wanting a more traditional woman- a woman who has very specific roles in the home. But how many of those men want the specific expectations which come with being a more traditional man?

Most men in past generations know how to fix their cars, repair a carburetor, do their own lawn work, repair all their own lawn equipment; weld flower pot stands for the wife, fix drywall. Many also owned a home versus rented. That means fixing windows, repairing appliances, repairing roof damage; etc. They had a seemingly endless supply of tools and a "jack of all trades" kind of mentality. Few went to a "shop" to fix anything.

From what I see, there are a decent amount of traditional men. But they're already traditional. It's going to be pretty rare that someone who is non-traditional decides to change over. It does happen, though. But even then, it happens because those people saw what they wanted and realized they would have to make changes in themselves to get what they wanted. We actually made friends with a couple a while back who describe themselves as "former atheist - Democrats who saw the light and became gun-loving, conservative Christians". Awesome couple, and I'm very happy for them.

The purpose of this question is to drive gender expectations on an equal surface. One cannot expect a loyal traditional housewife from a modern woman while simultaneously having no real skills to contribute to their desired traditional relationship.

I have a traditional wife and I am a traditional man. I have a contracting company so I can fix anything in the house and basic car repairs like changing the brakes. I can also cook which we do together on weekends. When we met, she said she was proud to be traditional and takes a lot of pride in how her house looks. I take pride in how the house works. We do the work in the house that we enjoy not base on what's expected.

I have employees who are 22-23 and just finished their apprenticeship making 75k and buying their first house debt free without any student loans. For every 7 people who retire from the trades only 1 enters. There is lots of money in blue collar work right now and you can make a lot of money without any student loans. I have PMs who are 30 making 6 figures and they are super handy.

I can do all of that and more. I don't want a house wife though, that is unless she's the CEO of a lucrative home business or is able to work for someone else remotely. Technically she can stay home if she's producing... Nothing wrong with that.

Yes, that is what should be expected.

Except those tasks you mentioned needed in homes with bad financial situation, as repairing 'carb', is not needed in modern vehicles and rest of it is often not repairable as parts are too expensive to get.

And, I can do most of that, or willing to learn, or to find and pay anyone else to do it, if I'm not able to or it is more cost effective to pay someone else to do it.

Most small engines are still carbureted. It baffles me how often my neighbors “replace” their mowers or chainsaws after a winter when all it needed was a little carb cleaning.

Well, this time I got fully electric, battery powered mower, as I hate the noise and smell of petrol around it all the time it is stored and need of all cans and oil,... and time waist in 'playing' with just to mow the lawn, don't get me started on trying to enjoy smell of freshly cut grass only few hours later when all mower exhaust smell disappeared.

Yes, electric mower is powerful enough and after 2 years of using it I'm able to mow all lawn in one go and there is still plenty of battery left and to replace batteries, when I need will not cost that more then 20% of mowers cost and not that hard to find them...

No, I'm not tree hugger, I like efficiency and I was not getting it out of petrol mower.

In terms of car I got rid of my electric one after 6 months of use, as tech is not there yet in my opinion, and diesel/petrol (when new and maintained appropriately) is still better, again in my opinion.

Traditional men did these jobs because they couldn't afford to get someone else in to do it. It was never a proof of masculinity as you seem to suppose.

You indirectly answer my question. I agree with you, society has changed such that traditional skills are obsolete, making the modern man’s life easier and convenient because, as you say, it affords him that flexibility and choice. Is it fair to fault the modern woman for having that same flexibility and choice? Indeed she doesn’t need a man with these skills because modern society has made that possible for her; the same society which has made that possible for the modern man.

I put a large addition on our house and am building a second floor alone. I am quite the traditional man. Which is why I wanted and expected a traditional woman. Had to look outside the US for that of course

There are less traditional women than there are traditional men. Majority of women are non traditional. Majority of women are liberals. All women are woke in one way or another

As a male who understands biological male female gender roles, I believe women should be traditional. It was when the world was not a shit show like it is now.
I already accept traditional roles myself. Because like I said, as a man, we are still expected to.

The watering down of testosterone is due to the endless push of feminist controlled society to emasculate males and force girls into roles they don’t actually want.
So biologically yes a male will instinctively want a traditional woman, but if we stopped letting the children run the day care (stopped letting feminist make the rules),
Most men would still have those skills.

I disagree. Society has made things easier for the modern man, rendering traditional skills obsolete. A man not working on their car or fixing their home is due to him wanting to do other things he feels is a more pleasurable use of his time. Indeed, several men who’ve responded here do have traditional skills. I as well; but I don't think it is right to blame social equality for a man’s laziness- especially a man who can choose to better himself with such skills but doesn’t, yet at the same time complains about not finding a traditional woman. The opportunity is there. The heart is not

If that same man is unwilling to put in the work to better himself, he is also unwilling to put in the effort to truly court a woman. Therefore he has nobody to blame, but himself.
