If you already have a child, it can SOMETIMES help keep a marriage together. But from what I've seen, that is mostly true only if the children are older, not with babies or young children. If a kid is a few years from graduation, a couple might stay together until they graduate.

But to get pregnant for that reason goes way beyond selfish. To be honest, that kind of thinking shows you are not mature enough to be a mother.

I assume you would also get pregnant without his knowledge, and without him wanting a child with you. That makes it even worse. Even if the marriage was stable, that should never be done. It should always be mutual.

No good mother would ever consider doing this.

It is possible that a child might cause a couple to look at themselves and their relationship and to then re-evaluate them.  HOWEVER , that is a burden that  should never  fall on a child. A child is to be the fruits of the faithful and unselfish love between his or her parents, not an attempt at saving a relationship. That is an unfair and unjust burden to place on a child. The little one then runs the risk of becoming a battleground between the parents.

Yes but you have to understand why. Why is the relationship ending? Because you too aimed for it to end and ruined it until it got to that point. You two caused this. That's good news because that means you can cause it to come back together. You dont need a baby to do that.

No child will not save your marriage or relationship. Maybe it will give some an excuse to try and work things out which you can and should do without a child involved. But if you don't work it out and stay because of the child neither of you are going to be truly happy.

You sound desperate.. Ihave 2 kids but our 8 year relationship finished 2 years ago, and now i`ve seen why... She has a house, she has a car she has 2 children ((that she was crying about getting old so she wanted children), and i have left... NOTHING! No, that only makes it worse. And I would go as far as to say that intentionally getting pregnant for the purpose of trying to save a failing relationship is child abuse.

First off children actually put more strain on the relationship and not less but secondly When that marriage fails, can you imagine the wife that child will have? Their life would suck.

Sounds like a very bad strategy, it won't save it and then your stuck with the kid. Or worse, it won't end and now your in an unhappy marriage where your partner is gonna be unhappy / cheat.

Mostly, no, and the resulting emotional and ( for many couples, financial) strain which come with a child will often further tax marriage bonds.
