my best friend was in a violent marriage. she was an undiagnosed mentally deficient person. she took the kids. raised them 13 years! he's got weekends but the kids aren't right. the father, my friend, isn't right.

violence isn't the first thing in my mind when reproduction is discussed unless it's rape. i was a stupid kid. but looking back (and from my siblings standpoint) we were abused. our father was and still is gay. he has tortured our family to this day. should my mom have been able to divorce an find a real man and love? yes. because he's using her for her money to survive and pay for underage boys on the side to this day.

Divorce is needed when you feel in presence of danger, violence, aggression, and overall a feeling of unsafe & unwelcome which will benefit the child not having their mother / them being bruised, beaten, and at worst killed.

You mischaracterize what he is saying. He is essentially saying that the justifications for bad marriages were used to cheapen marriage as a whole in his eyes. I seriously doubt if you point blank asked him if a woman being beaten every day should stay in a marriage, he would say yes.
