All "compliments" are attempted manipulation, regardless of whoever might be doing it. I'd be wary, as I would with anyone else, but if I was reasonably sure they meant no threat, I'd just move on.

It sucks to be leered at by gay guys when girls almost never look my way.
I've OFTEN been complimented by gay men. It goes with having cover boy good looks.
