Has this ever happened to you? Have some relationship burdens ever made you vow to never be in a relationship ever again?

For the first year of my relationship everything was good. My girlfriend had a job and could pay for herself. But a year later allegedly my girlfriend was fired because her boss got jealous that she got a boyfriend (me). For 2 years since she’s been struggling to hold down a job and I’ve been paying for her to live. This feels like a catch-22 of sorts. Does being in a relationship come with automatic unavoidable burdens you think are not worth it? I don’t want a relationship if this is a common risk. This is my only relationship ever so I don’t know how common this is. Obviously I didn’t think it was, which is why I’m asking if you have experienced a frustrating paradox such as this.

In very simplistic terms, does being in a relationship activate a problem that would make you avoid being in a relationship in the first place? Are there relationship problems that would make you want to use a time machine and stop that relationship from happening? And how common are the various problems? As a shut-in introvert I have little life experience and learned everything (incorrectly) from tv.
