Me and my boyfriend dont have a connection anymore. How can I express myself to him and try to fix things?

I feel like I have been in denial for I don't know how long that me and the person I love are experiencing a rift in our relationship this big. He was the man who healed my broken heart, who gave me hope that love still existed, that I found someone who loved me unconditionally and who was willing to be the man that I needed. And I feel like we were almost at that space of me feeling like he was the one. And lately things have been getting more and more dramatic. We argue a lot and usually it's a fight to be understood I guess. But lately it's like I just don't sympathize with his version of things. I feel like he exaggerates the problems in our relationship by choosing to believe reasons that aren't true. When I try to correct him and give him a clearer idea of what I feel is the problem he just nitpick or argues that I'm combative and that women should be submissive and that I am the one who refuses to listen to reason when in actuality it's him. I see beyond being mad in the moment and think the deeper issue is he has a problem with losing an argument so much that he tries to force things to fit into a narrative that isn't true because he just doesn't want to be wrong and I be right. And I no longer give in the way I used to, I argue back and try to get him to back off and let somebody else shine, let somebody else's version of things be acceptable. All in all, the connection I thought we had is not as it once was. I don't feel like I can talk to him. His way of thinking is overbearing to me. But I love him. The connection has diminished while my feelings still remain strong.
