And to extend the question further, would you girls have any objection to your boyfriend/husband having a female best friend or female friends in general? There is a similar question on the forum, but no male views are accepted. Let's all chime in, this is I think an interesting one.
Personally, I'm okay with the first one. My wife has several male friends, some of which she knew before we started dating. How could I object to that?
As for the second question, I think most men are wise enough not to get into anything with a female friend. For me, attraction towards a female friend is not part of the equation, nor would it pose a real problem if there was attraction. As long as you chat or see each other in a casual way, no harm. Nor would I expect any remarks from my wife, or ask her not to speak to her male friends. Red lines for me would be openly flirting with someone or seeing someone secretly. Jealousy, and certainly unfounded jealousy, will undermine any relationship.
It would be a boring world if men couldn't have female friends, or vice versa. It's so refreshing talking to women and knowing their point of view. They almost always surprise me.
