Who do you think needs marriage more between men and women?

When I say “need marriage” I mean that they not only want it for their life but rely on the hope of getting married in order to find the will to survive, it’s important to them and the idea of going without it before they die is an injustice in their eyes.

Women, having a family is nice, but it's mostly about leaving both genes and teaching someone. Pump and dump and mentor. Women who want kids will still have kids, and still get horny, and get with guys who are horny.

The burden of raising kids will still mostly fall on women without marriage. Children with both parents are more successful in life, married women with children tend to be happier, and can share that burden.

In my grandpa's generation, men carried a hell of a burden and stress in marriage, so did a wife, home economics was no joke, hand washing clothes, or death during child birth if you weren't close enough to a hospital that could do a c-section.

In my dad's was the generation of Married with Children, cheap houses, nagging wives, appliances that do everything, but when your wife does nothing, you just put up with it, because it's what you do.

I don't think nearly as many men (at least in the US) are willing to take either of those deals anymore. I think a lot of women are willing to take the last one and want it.

Neither gender needs marriage as you laid it out in your question. We wouldn't exist as a species if we needed monogamy or an affirmation of it that way.

@CB-Raido-Time I'm missing the point here. Men on average live shorter lives than women. If the average is two years longer for being married, it would mean that the women would live longer, and though the men would still die sooner, we wouldn't die as soon.

When you're single you don't get nagged for smoking and drinking as much, so that is a major factor if nothing else.

These days, neither. You can live a successful life without marriage. Back in the day, women needed marriage just to survive - they weren’t allowed to work so the only way to get by was to marry and be dependent on a man. Thankfully this is no longer the case!

The result beeing that married men and married women live longer than staying unmarried. Only exception are Asian women who life longer when they dont marry.

I think it just depends on the individual. Surprisingly, sometimes I think it is the guy more than the girl. In general, probably women do more. It's especially nice when they both want it with each other. I didn't expect it at all when my husband popped the question, but I immediately knew it was right for us. It wasn't planned and there wasn't a ring until a couple of hours before we got married. Once it was out there, it happened fast.

No one ever really needed marriage. It's just a title and a ritualistic promise of faithfulness, love, & dedication to a relationship. As soon as the government got involved, it really locked people in societally, with posessions, finances, government contracts, and social stigmas & reputations on the line, making it a huge loss should divorce occur.

That very depends on the culture. Most cultures actually respected, if not worshipped women. It was the holy and English crusades to take over the world, that fucked that up for women.
