It might work for some , but not me , I wouldn't stay in a relationship with a girl that needed that much space from me , there would be no point for us to even be together , if we needed that much time apart , she would just be a fuck buddy more than anything , just a convenience for me to get off on here and there but she wouldn’t be my partner , I would keep my options opened to accept someone else that didn’t want that much space from me period. It can work like that … doesn’t always though. Distance can also lead to diminished feelings and invite other choices / possibilities. I guess it comes down to how strong the chemistry / emotions / relationship was or is as well as the attitude of the people who are in it.. are their heads turned easily etc

This has to be according to who you are.

You can have your space living in the same town in separate apartments. Married couples have "space" sleeping in the same bed. No two people are carbon copies and each couple needs time to themselves or to share with friends who are not the SO's friends.

But, not speaking in any sense to each other for two months seems an excessively long time to not communicate, unless this is how both of you want your relationship to be.
