I’m not sure how much clearer he can be about his unavailability, you wrote it out yourself and must be in denial about it or something I don't know. If you needed it clearer than it already is: he just isn’t looking for anything right now. No need to complicate or convolute something so simple. If you choose to keep talking to him then it would absolutely be with the knowledge that he isn’t offer anything more than casual conversation or friends with benefits.
