Without permission? That's a big problem if you both haven't agreed to it. That said I actually think that couples should give each other access to each other's phones for multiple reasons. At least once the relationship hit's that stage. If you go through your SO's phone without them knowing it means they're worried about cheating.

1. it's a two-way gesture of trust.

2. It does add a feeling of security for both of you. Everyone has doubts and get's nervous sometimes no matter how stable or loving the relationship is. We all have insecurities and those never go away completely they just get better. Everyone has doubts sometimes and it's normal.

3. Shit happens. What if you're in an emergency and one of you gets hurt and can't talk and your phone is dead. You can't use theirs now to contact help or call family etc.

4. Simple convenience. What if you can't find your phone and need to call it and your spouse is busy or napping and you don't want to bug or wake her. Maybe you need to add something to her calendar before you forget again or maybe you need to check her calendar to make sure you don't schedule something that conflicts with hers.

5. If you have nothing to hide, why is it a big deal? If you have private thoughts and such put those in a journal or share them with your therapist if they're something you can't share with your partner or something you can't share with them right away. You shouldn't be seeking comfort or help from someone other than your partner once your dating with the exception of family and therapist. If you tell it to your friends and not your SO that's a problem especially if they're doing it with someone who is interested that's emotional cheating.

Without permission someone whose not married to you doesn’t have a right to just invade your privacy. If you’re upset by someone not showing you their phone then you can break the relationship off.

Communication and trust is important while also having respect for one another’s privacy. This comes down to compatibility and what two people decide upon. Some people are different about things again that’s compatibility.

Nope, we share our phones, computers, and passwords, but we have nothing to hide. It would be a much bigger red flag if someone were to refuse it

There would be nothing on my phone that she couldn’t find out by asking me , and being my SO , she would know that. I have never and would never have anything on my phone that was meant to kept from my SO , because there is nothing she wouldn’t know.


Having said that if she ever wanted access to my phone I would happily give it to her, to win trust I think you have to start with showing your worth her trust.
