8 moThrough the years i came to a formulation of aspects that i find to be required to consider a relationship as a strong, unspoken pact between 2 people.
To me, it comes to 3 things, each one reflects its health on the other 2, thus, making the relation stronger and true or weaker and falling into an illusion of a working relationship.
- Honesty/TrustI put them on the same level, as one. It's not about how you feel about the other's level of honesty, is also on your level of honesty towards the other. If for some reason you need to hide something, be honest about it, tell, say, speak, explain. The level of trust between you will influence the impact of such a situation. I'm not counting here betrayals, those, aside from not being supposed to happen, if they do, be honest, face your actions and take the consequences.
- TolerancePeople will hardly even think about this being a success factor in a relationship... but it is a major one.
No one is perfect; as much as you may find everything cute and funny at start, most likely, some aspects of behaviour, personality, habits, etc., as small and insignificant as they might appear, if for some reason start feeling annoying, that feeling will just grow. Pick one, and another, and one more... you really don't say a thing, they look harmless, but one day, in some more tense situation or argument, all of it will come up, and worst, will be a reason to be impossible to talk, as anything becomes a reason for conflict. You need to accept the other, and vice-versa, everyone has faults, and you need to figure out if you can be tolerant of them.
- ComplicityI consider this the most important. It is the main ingredient in the recipe to create and develop a real bond. The level of complicity relates to anything you share. Doesn't matter what. Can be based on a travel, a conversation, a random situation, an event you shared, etc. Complicity towards a shared moment implies you own it together as a relevant memory. Each one is part of your story and gives meaning to the relationship. As soon as anyone fails to honor those memories, the complicity between the 2 dies a little bit more to the point it just gets deprived of meaning, and your bond fades away.
These 3 things either strengthen or weaken each other. They are co-dependent.
Nased on how strong the 2 of you assume each one of them, everything else falls into place.
If you are not being honest/trustworthy, for sure you are not being tolerant, much less an accomplice of your partner.
If you can't be tolerant before the other, you are forcing someone else's nature; thus, trust and honesty fade, and you certainly won't be an accomplice to the other part.
If you don't assume the complicity with the other, you won't be tolerant. Much less trust or honesty will be in place.
PS: perhaps this text is too long, but to make it consistent, i really felt the need to explain.00 Reply

For me communication because without having it that's where all the other issues come from or can't be fixed quick enough then a little prob becomes a serious one for instance not enough attention to your partner could lead to cheating but if you told your partner you need more attention it may solve the problem but not if they don't know

8 moI would say aside from basic perimeters like loyalty, mutual support, and respect, the most important quality for me is mutual investment at the emotional levels, that might not be what the marriage therapists tell you, but for me, it is what makes me commit to somebody as opposed to viewing them as another stranger on the street.

The most important thing in a relationship is trust. If you canโt trust each other, everything else becomes hard. Honest communication and respect help keep that trust strong.

Ah, the secret sauce of romance! 😉 From my adventures as a relationship coach, I'd say communication takes the cake. Without it, you're like a ship lost at sea. It's all about sharing, understanding, and vibing on the same wavelength. Don't keep things bottled up; spill the tea together. Whether it's about emotions, plans, or even who's doing the dishes, being on the same page makes love smoother. Now, go out there and let that love ride those waves like a pro surfer!🏄โโ๏ธโค๏ธ

00 Reply 1.5K opinions shared on Relationships topic. What do I think the most important aspect of a relationship is? That's an easy one -- the woman's pleasure, comfort, happiness and satisfaction, always.
00 ReplyThe most important thing in a relationship is trust. Without it, love, communication, or even time together can feel shaky. Trust creates safety, honesty, and space for both people to grow. Along with trust comes respect โ because when you truly respect your partner, you listen, value their needs, and handle conflicts in a healthier way. Love starts the relationship, but trust and respect are what keep it strong.
