There were certainly some positive things about that era. I actually still have letters from some of my exes from many years ago and my partner has letters from her exes too. We rarely look at them, but never wanted to throw them away. I also think that phone calls seem more personal than texts so I prefer those for anything other than very simple communication.

Some things are better now than they were then. Certainly getting quicker replies to messages is better than having to wait up to a week for a mailed letter to get to the other person and for them to reply and get it to you through the mail.
