I spent all Halloween weekend with this woman. We spent all weekend in an AirBnB with my friends and their girlfriends and on Sunday night, she became distant and left without waiting for us saying that she had things to get done before Monday morning. Ever since, she has been polite and friendly, but there has been a shift. I’ve asked her multiple times, what’s wrong and what did I do and she keeps saying nothing.

My friends with benefits before this, he only contacted me when it was convenient for her and she dumped me, then got a boyfriend the next day.

After we had sex, I found myself being lovey dovey (i. e.: holding her hand in the car and throughout downtown, paying for her drinks and food, almost fighting this guy because he said something to her about her Dallas Cowboys cheerleading costume, being super attentive in general, and cuddling her all night) but I assumed I was just drunk.

So this is an interesting thing to bring up and I think this fact is relevant: women don’t feel comfortable making sexual connections without some kind of emotional intimacy or display from their potential partner to build trust, and men don’t feel comfortable making emotional connections without a sexual connection or sexual display. This mainly has to do with how men and women are socialized around sex, and it seems like you were expecting a follow-through when this woman is already under the impression that your connection to her emotionally is as far as it will go and she’s content to keep it that way.
