Do you believe in love at first sight or is it just lust?

I believe you grow into truly loving someone I am not sure bout immediately loving someone to me that is lust... what do u all think?

I could become infatuated very quickly, but it would take me probably at least a year to decide if I loved them completely.

I mean, what do you know about someone based on first sight? They looks, behavior, voice? Yeah, they may knock your socks off, but what do you really know about them?

Initial attraction is usually physical. It doesn't have to be lust, meaning one wants to have sex with them, it could be, and often is, a desire to meet and get to know them. Love usually happens later, or not

Well, I didn't.

I won't try to explain my wife. I'll just say I fell in love with her before we met. Usually, I have to get to know someone before anything happens.

But, one girl, I'm just realizing, got under my skin 35 years ago and I still think about her, even though we didn't date or talk much.

I'm not normal, first off. Most of the people I meet I can barely stand. But, there are a few who, for some reason, just cause a feeling I can't explain. For the most part, they're girls or women, but there have been boys or men. It's not love or lust, it's more like a connection between us, like we're old friends. It happened with one elderly, Black man who was in the hospital, for age related mental health problems. He dropped his fork as I passed by and something passed between us. Later, that night, I woke to find him sitting on my bed, with a very worried nurse watching him. I told her it was fine and asked if he wanted my room or what. It seems, even though he couldn't talk or anything, he felt the connection too. I was fine with him staying in my room but she said he had to back to his room. Sadly, he died a little later. No idea what happened, but it was like we were old friends.

When it happens with kids, it's paternal. I am very protective of them and will stop anyone hurting them. In one instance, I even challenged law enforcement and doctors over her rights.

When it happens with women, they feel it too. In most cases, they don't need protecting but they suddenly know they can trust me. This happened with a friend, and I use that term loosely, and his date. He started to become improper and both she and I had the same feeling. When he snapped "What are you going to do," she simply walked over to me, took my arm, and so "Go home with him." Somehow she knew he might try to rape her but she was safe with me. Or maybe I have been in the friend-zone so much it just shows. LOL

But, in this one situation, there was this bond, for me, AND attraction to her. But, as things were, she was with someone else, and off limits. Oddly, even so, I'm very happy for her. She's met a decent man, instead of the one she was with, has a great job, and a loving family. I do wonder what might have been, but it isn't like what most men feel. I consider this love, since it is very close to what I felt with my wife, without the physical contact.

One old woman said that this connection was from past lives. We had something in a past life that is still strong and invades this one. Very 70s stuff and interesting to think about, but taking it seriously is a little hard. According to her, I was married to my wife and this girl, which is why things happened like they did. The others could be friends, family, or some other relationship that wasn't physical, but equally as strong.

Lust, for me, is very clear. It's also very rare. It's easy to tell because, almost instantly after feeling it, there is a wave of disgust that hits me. It may be natural, but she's also not a piece of meat or a toy to play with.

I've felt it... but it was probably just lust. When I really felt it... like I'd do anything for this chick type of stuff... chicks don't dig it. Chicks prefer the player side of me and I don't feel much more than a boner for chicks I just want to fuck. Hope you can tell the difference.

I believe love at first sight exists. I believe lust at first sight exists. And I believe in absolutely any kind of feelings at first sight.

When it is about me though, I believe in strong interest at first sight, simply because I experienced it. But it wasn't love, and it wasn't lust.

There's no such thing as love at first sight. You're correct. Most people that claim love at first site typically have never even actually been in love. They just think they have. They've never went past limmerance. Which is typically why all their "relationships" ultimately fail.
