Emotions are tools, you can drive a nail with a wrench if you hit hard enough, but you are gonna damage something if you try to hammer a screw. A man who doesn't understand his emotions can't even tell when he's being controlled by them, and worst of all his ego may stop him from ever learning

I would say they not only understand their own emotions and how they effect others but emotions of others that they may not have as strongly.
