Anonymous(30-35)1 moThe system pushes greed and individualism up instead.
If you look at capitalism for example, its main idea is to always get more revenue whenever and wherever possible.
That simply has no limits. So no boundaries for raising profit. Take usury or "interest" as an example. It is simply exploitation and abuse. How come I ever make money for nothing but sitting around, while pounding loaners harder each and every day?
This is intentional in short by those in power, mainly driven by greed.
Otherwise, people naturally would cooperate and respect. Because life changes. And empathy, respect, and cooperation are normal patterns of life.
For someone to always be on top is unnatural. Not that we love or hope misery for anyone. But when we say that our freedom stops whenever it harms the other.. it triggers those abusers and greedy. So they have to beautify it in whatever way for people.. where the result is seeing another person stepped upon and ignoring that.. to silently (obediently) await our turn after them.
It is not much complicated or hard. But there are always fundementals that won't be given back without the sacrifice. I mean equal application of boundaries; equally upon powerful and weak. Those exploiters will put up a fight for it.Also, when every society member starts to live in the way of "Perform my duty, so the other takes their right", people lives proceed properly. Unlike just asking for your rights, which can easily be done by sitting back and asking for this and that.
As in rights are given by the other performing their duty. And vice versa.
That's how we ensure everyone gets what they deserve by proper means. And can be judged or punished if not. Life becomes clearer and easier.• Performing my duty means continuous reflection to improve, rather than just sitting and maybe even ceasing opportunities to exploit people around, which rather lights up disagreements, fights, quarrels, and hatred.
Cooperation and empathy serve public benefit, not ultimately personal. They definitely serve us personally indirectly.. but equally after all.
For that I comment that it is said: The relation between freedom vs security (both legislative and individual) is an inverse relation.
So putting boundaries to one person's freedom; boundaries in other words, means more security to the other's.
Hope this makes sense.00 Reply

Mainly because of social media filling our heads with nonsense , and sadly so many of us are glued to social media and face planted on our phones and computers , primarily for entertainment reasons and leisure, shopping etc. unfortunately not everything we see or read about on social media is accurate , a lot of it is bullshit to sucker people in to primarily to make money , and to convince people into the latest trends and sex and relationships. Most the topics we read about on social media was created by someone with that profession , basically your partner is cheating on you if they do this and that blah blah blah , shit like that is created by divorce attorneys to make money , this whole world is focused on money and sex and greed and status. Social media was designed as a money making platform to suck people in , and they did a damn good job at doing so because most of us are on social media. So we allowed social media to influence and corrupt our mindsets to think everyone is an asshole , all girls’ and guys’ cheat everyone is a backstabber and a liar etc. so that’s why empathy and respect is the way it is today and sadly it’s just going to get worse because technology will keep advancing to sucker us on more

I agree with this. Our phones is why we aren’t so social
1.3K opinions shared on Relationships topic. - Most individualistic society we've ever had as a species. The more self-sufficiency, the less reliance on others, the less emphasis on community, helping, sharing. (Though self-reliance is just an illusion - people just hire others to do things for them now. They don't fix things, make things, or even necessarily go out to shop for things they need. All of this can be subbed out.)
- Opportunity for anonymity online dehumanizes, creates psychological distance and lack of true understanding of others.
- 'Us vs. Them' demonizing, per above. People seek belonging, as it brings a feeling of safety, but to belong, some others are said to not belong, they are of a different tribe. Tribes are no longer local. They're spread far and wide, but only aligned in theory. In reality, there's no one nearby to feed your cat or help mount a TV on the wall.
- Scarcity of resources causing stress and hardship and the feeling that one must prioritize self-preservation.
- Not enough equality/the differential between the haves and have nots is widening. The middle class is being squeezed out of existence.
- Population density has tipped to urban areas, causing personal bubbles/space to decrease, which causes people to feel frayed and needing space, alone time, privacy.
- Social anxiety exacerbated by aloneness. Fear of the unknown.
- A more interconnected world puts more strain on biases, prejudices, xenophobia, and the protection of cultures. The more interaction, the more ideological differences and friction that needs to be reconciled. (We're not actually used to this much crossover of cultures.)

1 moBecause hatred and resentment are winning the battle and people are getting tired of trying to understand others. So empathy, respect and cooperation are disappearing.

My aim on GAG is to decode relationship and social drama so you don’t lose your mind or your heart, haha 😏
Empathy, respect, and cooperation feel like they’re dropping because people are more isolated, online conflict is rewarded, and everyone’s stuck in survival mode. Social media lovebombs outrage, not kindness. Families, communities, and real-life support systems are weaker, so people become defensive, transactional, and quick to ghost instead of connect.00 Reply

2.7K opinions shared on Relationships topic. Well this is why more relationships are failing... When basic communication breaks down and folks are SO dysfunctional that they think it's aggressive to look a person in the eye or so much as touch them... then the extended effect is a decline of empathy and respect, which are tied to our ability to connect and convey non-verbal cues to one another.

Anonymous(30-35)1 moIt's less empathy for these miserable entitled white men Who think they are the best thing in the world like donald trump and boss people around.
But China is giving Africa opportunities. Africa is apologizing to the diaspora in the United States and are offering them Citizenship to return, so they can increase their talent pool.
People are wanting more female leaders and are tired of these old white men with colonizer mentalities who are miserable and want to start wars all day.
Men are starting to wake up and realize that women aren't the problem.
It's the old white rich pedo men like donald trump. It's less empathy for people who just want to be racist and a bigot because they want to tell stupid and edgy jokes to make themselves seem cool and unfiltered.
People are seeing how stupid and incompetent these white supremacist guys are and that they always needed black, Asian, hispancs, and white women to carry the country for them because they don't know they are doing.
The people they always complain about the most the women and people of color who made America what it was.
The French got kicked out of Africa and a bunch of wealthy black Americans are investing and buying land in Africa because Africa and China will take over the world by 2050.
White supremacist guys can longer take other people's hard work claim it for themselves anymore. The white women are dating men of color or traveling to Indian to get a husband.
It's less empathy for people with the entitled lazy white colonizer mentality. But more empathy for the people loved to make fun of all the time.

Anonymous(45 Plus)1 moThis coincided with the rise of the internet. It's twofold.
1. People are simply losing their humanity and their ability to communicate. Notice that this began with generation Z. It was the first generation really to be born into a world ruled by the Internet. From this generation on people do not deal face to face with people much and a lot of them stay home and build a virtual world around them. If they run into problems they just destroy that world and create a new one with a new persona. They never actual learn lessons in human behavior so they suck at understanding it. It's why so many of them claim to be autistic now. Because it's easier to just call it a medical condition then LEARN to adapt to the wotld around you and learn empathy.
2. The rise of the internet has put information just click away. You would think that would help the human population. But it has also put DIS-information equally as close. And the disinformation is far more numerous. Not simple things. But things that the powers that be want to control the narrative to. Like the people on the Epstein list. The point is people have gotten to be very tribal. People do not trust anything that could alter their already established world view now. So they do not seek the truth. They seek THEIR truth. The one that already fits their world view.

1 moWe here in the US at least, have been propagandized for at least 20 years, and more factually back to the time of Reagan that "the other" in some variable form... wrong color, wrong sexual preferenc, wrong religion... si responsible for our every little problem, and if we just drive them from our midst then all will be well. Then a group of men come out and promise to do the very thing. Nobody who isn't "just like you" is trustworthy, even the women you should want to have relationships with, but they are to be subverted and used as always.
To be fair any society that practices Nationalism will use this type of tactic and it is on the rise. How many songs do you now hear about apple trees and honeybees and snow white turtle doves? The discourse of entire societies has been poisoned with the language of hate so that we may be divided and conquered by the oligarchs.00 Reply- 650 opinions shared on Relationships topic.
1 moThe rise of Fascism has killed empathy, respect, and cooperation and made it acceptable to be a loudmouthed asshole with a low IQ. And the human cockroaches of MAGA and their counterparts in the EU have come running out from under the rocks they hide under.

1 moIt used to be considered good to love thy neighbour and bad to be an arsehole. That seems to have reversed in public discourse.
I don't think the changes have been nearly as marked on a personal or local level as they are made to appear online.
10 Reply 10.3K opinions shared on Relationships topic. Overlapping shifts in modern life that are driving this change. People waste time believing the rubbish posted by trolls online instead of trusting their instincts. This website is a classic example of that phenomenon.

1 moIts because everyone is becoming more degenerate, narcissistic and self centered thanks to smart phones (normies don't belong in the internet).
It's also because people are more materialistic and have no particular desire to do or strive towards anything, yet are constantly told to perdue their own goals and "just be yourself."
Currently the only cure is a great flood, nuclear war, solar flare and a meteor hitting us at the same time.

1.5K opinions shared on Relationships topic. I think it's mostly due to online fueled tribalism. 'Us' and 'Them', etc. Many people are too quick to believe the first thing they see, often because it's what they wanted to believe in the first place.
