How can a straight, aromantic 41-year-old man make platonic female friends?

So, I'm at the extreme end of the aromantic spectrum. I just want platonic women friends. I'm 41... which I think makes that extra difficult. There are no colleges to go to, to find people at and lots of women are married.

The typical advice is to just go out and meet people with things in common with you... which is good advice... but I think I need more strategy than that, because I find myself asking questions like: "Why would a typical middle-aged woman even want a platonic male friend? She's probably either married, in which case that could be awkward, or she's already built up a strong network of female friends, and male friends would both be unnecessary and a pointless additional risk.

So, it seems like there'd be a small percentage of middle-aged women who'd want male platonic friends (who aren't gay... because I'm not gay). I want to maximize my chance with that group, because it seems like it's a pain in the butt to find middle-aged women to do stuff with platonically.

Do you think it'd sound corny and robotic to just clearly state "I'd like to have more platonic woman friends?" I feel like if I don't get that point across early though, they might get the wrong impression and be less likely to want to do stuff with me. Other advice online says I should be clear about just wanting platonic friendships.

If you're female, how might a guy efficiently and non-wierdly communicate to you that he just wants to do platonic stuff with you, and what sorts of behaviors or personality types might get you interested in that (besides being gay).

If you're male and beyond the college environment in which I think this is a lot easier, have you ever tried to go out of your way to get female friends just in general? Did it work? What did you do? Where did you go, etc?

Thanks.
