What does it mean when a guy gives a girl chocolate for Valentine's day?

Before lunch, a guy at work asked me if I'm hungry, I said I am, and he gave me a box of chocolate. I took a piece of chocolate and gave him back the box, Because I thought he was just sharing his snacks or something. Then I left the office for lunch, and when I came back, I found the box on my desk again. And he messaged me, wishing me happy Valentine's day, and that the chocolate is for me.

What does it mean when a guy gives a girl chocolate for Valentine's day? Is he just being friendly or is he interested in me?

Yeah no, he was totally just being friendly. He was genuinely concerned about your level of hunger and when he realized the kind of shape you were in he decided to share his snacks of a box of chocolates on Valentine's day because that's naturally what a friendly people do. It's common knowledge that when you're just being friendly with somebody around the office you give them a box of chocolates on the official holiday of romance... just your standard run of the mill friendliness.

I nearly broke my internet with sarcasm right there. I ask in all sincerity, how was this not obvious to you? It's Valentine's day and a guy gave you a box of chocolates. Short of him blurting out to your face "I LIKE YOU!" he couldn't have been much MORE obvious.

Let me put it this way... if it turns out that he was just being friendly and meant absolutely nothing by it, I want to know what alternate dimension I woke up in this morning where guys give women chocolates on Valentine's day with the only motive being "I was just being friendly" and the women receiving the chocolates think "he was just sharing his snacks". It's not a world I want to live in.

He's Sweet on you, sweetie..definitely a sign he is into you, and wants you "into his chocolates too."

I think it was an amazing gesture that this sweetheart of a guy even took the time to give you a "piece of his heart." This means heartfelt Sharing, and from where I'm sitting, he could be a potential Keeper to Your heart some day.

Has he ever showed interest for you before that point?

If he hasn't I would just take it has a sweet gesture.

If he has, or he continues to (even after Valentine's day as passed), I would see

it as him actually finding the courage to show his interest towards me.

Of course he isn't blatantly saying it, he is trying to see your reaction

before he proceeds.

I think he has some interest in you, but for the most part is being friendly. Getting involved with someone you work with is a very tough decision and he is watching your reaction.
