Today, people have started a war between science and religion which is insane. Science and religion both supports humans to find their way through life on earth. Science is basically about the physical world while religion is the inner and unseen world of truth. Science supports humans for their survival while religion too supports them by curing the inner spirit and providing wisdom. But these two valuable treasures are two sticks for the modern people to fight with. These are some facts that prove the holy Bible has scientific truth.
First thing you must know is that in the ancient days most common people were uneducated, so they were taught in the most simple way that they could understand. Most Isrealites were shepherds and farmers so, they could not understand heavy explanations. Therefore simple language and examples from day-to-day life was taken during teachings.
In the beginning (time) God created the heavens (space) and the earth (matter)…Then God said, “Let there be light (energy).
God created the universe in 7 days?
In the olden days people could not imagine numbers greater like thousands or millions. What I my religion teacher taught me was that the 7 days mentioned in the Bible is considered to be an aeon, a very long time (Scientifically this can be the 4.6 billion years or any other value). Ancient people probably may not think of such a great number for sure. So the simplest way for a teaching may have been taken as 7 days, which is countable for them.
The order of the creation agrees with science
God created light at first, then water, then soil and then plant life
There is glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differeth from another star in glory - 1Corinthians 15:41
Science - Each star varies in size and intensity
The universe is expanding (Job 9:8, Isaiah 42:5, Jeremiah 51:15)
"Which alone spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the waves of the sea"- Job
"Thus saith God the Lord, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out" - Isaiah
"...and hath stretched out the heaven by his understanding" - Jeremiah
Creation is made of particles, indiscernible to our eyes (Hebrews 11:3)
"By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible."
Until the 19th century it was not found that all visible matter consists of invisible elements.
Dark matter (Jude 1:13, Isaiah 50:3)
"Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever"- Jude
"I clothe the heavens with blackness, and I make sackcloth their covering" - Isaiah
Over 98% of the known universe is comprised of dark matter and dark energy. Beyond the expanding universe there is no measured radiation and therefore only outer darkness exists. These theories paint a seemingly accurate description of what the Bible calls “outer darkness” or “the blackness of darkness forever.”
The earth free-floats in space (Job 26:7)
"He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing."
Light travels in a path (Job 38:19)
"“Where is the way to the dwelling of light?
And darkness, where is its place,"
"Way" [Hebrew: Derek] literally means traveled path or road. Until the 17th century it was believed that light was transmitted instantaneously. We now know that light is a form of energy that travels at 186,000 miles per second in a straight line. So, there's a way indeed.
Air has a weight (Job 28:25)
"To make the weight for the winds; and he weigheth the waters by measure"
To hold thousands of tons of rain in a thunderstorm it must have a mass. Ask from a meteorologist, that's something they have calculated in the recent years.
The earth is spherical (Isaiah 40:22)
"He who sits above the circle of the earth, And its inhabitants are like grasshoppers, Who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, And spreads them out like a tent to dwell in."
According to history it says that Pythagoras who lived in the 6th century BC was the person who put forth idea that the earth is round. Pythagoras lived between 570-495 BC while Isaiah lived between 740-686 BC where we can see that the idea of spherical shape of the earth was mentioned by Isaiah even before Pythagoras.
The First Law of Thermodynamics established (Genesis 2:1-2)
"Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them."
The First Law states that the total quantity of energy and matter in the universe is a constant. One form of energy or matter may be converted into another, but the total quantity always remains the same. Therefore the creation is finished, exactly as God said way back in Genesis.
Springs of the deep ocean (Job 38:16)
"“Have you entered the springs of the sea?
Or have you walked in search of the depths?"
In the 1970s, with the help of deep diving research submarines that were constructed to withstand 6,000 pounds-per-square-inch pressure, oceanographers discovered springs on the ocean floors. I don't think anyone at that time could dive deep into the darkness of the ocean to find the springs. As you go deeper, it gets darker inside the sea.
Mountains at the bottom of the sea (Jonah 2:5-6)
"The waters surrounded me, even to my soul; The deep closed around me; Weeds were wrapped around my head. I went down to the moorings of the mountains; The earth with its bars [closed] behind me forever; Yet You have brought up my life from the pit, O LORD, my God."
It was in the last century we discovered that there are towering mountains and deep trenches in the depth of the sea.
Continents were created as one large land mass (Genesis 1:9)
"And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so"
Geologists agree that earth was one super continent, later the continents drifted.
Blood is the source of life (Leviticus 17:11)
"For the life of the flesh is in the blood..."
We know that clean blood leads for a healthy life and blood loss would lead to death. This Biblical verse says more than that.
Sexual promiscuity is dangerous to your health (1 Corinthians 6:18)
"He who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body"
We all know that any sexual activity outside one's marriage life is unsafe and may cause diseases.
The origin of different races (Genesis 11)
"And the whole earth was of one language and of one speech...."
This chapter tells us about the origin of races where groups started diverging to different directions.
And, as the word says, before splitting into different cults and races, the human race was one with one language and one speech.
The races may differ from one another with appearance according to the locations they chose to be home. ex: Negroids of Africa have black skin to protect them from strong sunlight.
Genetic mixing of different seeds (Deuteronomy 22:9)
"Thou shall not sow thy vineyard with divers seeds: lest the fruit of thy seed which thou hast sown, and the fruit of thy vineyard, be defiled"
There is evidence that unnatural, genetically engineered crops may be harmful.
It is true that some people untidy religion by adding their own views and creating their own groups with psychic views saying "We are that witness" or "that assembly" etc. Religion has a deep truth which sometimes is difficult for some people to understand. But it is okay, as long as you spend your life as a good human being.
All we must know is that we must value both science and religion for guiding us and helping us throughout our lives. Without science the world would be a wilderness while without religion the world would be a very nasty place with wild humans.
So, if someone pulls out some stupid argument which arouses conflicts between these two topics, just put on your headphones and ignore him until he finds his mouth his dried and exhausted.
