You can't rationally argue against religious believes, cause they are irrational and will make excuses for everything that you may critique and argue in circles till you give up and then claim they have won the discussion.
well i was taught the tale of noah in school as well but it was made abundandly clear that this is religion, not a historical account. i guess religion is confused with reality in lots of American schools. luckily that's not the case in my country.
@genericname85 All people are religious because all people have core beliefs. Also, circular reasoning is done by all people, not just people discussing God.
@Under_Maps_OF_twigs don't throw core believes and religion in the same box. They are not the same. Also not all people have it, cause not all little contemplate those things. They behave totally unreflected.
Circular reasoning is not done by all people. I agree that not only religion is this logic but certainly not every reason is circular.
@Under_Maps_OF_twigs arguing with ignorance like you is religion. I only accept demonstrable evidence. You your presumptions over all evidence and reject demonstrable truth. That makes you religious and me not.
Saying there's no evidence for something that has as much evidence as evolution doesn't even qualify as ignorant. It's straight up idiocy or completely lunatic. Your choice.
@genericname85 Keep blocking me and I will hack your account. I'm pretty sure you will cry when you lose it.
You claim to be atheist because you want to live in sin. Atheism is a religion because it's secular by nature. It's a worldview that claims Jesus is not the son of God. Therefore, it's a religious stance.
You can not demonstrate there was a big bang. It's simply your belief. Therefore, it's a religion. Evolution is a religion.
Only a wuss would post things, then block, knowing the person can not immediately reply. You're lucky I'm not an experienced hacker. If I were, you wouldn't be able to block me. I'd take away the website's ability to have that as an option if I were a hacker.
@Ping_Pong_Battery ahahahaha yeah go on and hack my account. but if your knowledge of hacking is as good as your knowledge of the bible or reality, i'm not very intimidated to be honest. doesn't your religion forbid you such things or something? i'm sure you have enough accounts to answer this, cause im gonna block this one too ;) have fun
@Ping_Pong_Battery by the way you can demonstrate the big bang. that's why we assume it happened to begin with. i don't care if i live in sin by your standard, cause i care as little for your illinformed opinion as i care for your god.
and yeah i will keep blocking you, cause i can and you won't do anything about that. your threats are pathetic.
@genericname85 Its okay. One day you will want your account and won't have it.
Also, just because you think there's no afterlife or no God, doesn't mean you are right. You can't prove that there's nothing after death.
Your religion known as secularism can't have any moral codes since good and evil can't exist without God. Of course you can say that you can determine your own morals but it's all subjective and even if a society sets morals, it's still subjective. They can always change. With God, they can never change.
Also, it wouldn't matter if you followed your morals or rebelled against your morals because the end result would be the same if there's no God. Wouldn't matter how you lived your life as judgment wouldn't apply.
But if there is a God, then you will bow down to Him because all will.
Funny you phrase it that way. I also have long wondered about fresh water fish.
There are species of fish in Lake Victoria that occur nowhere else on the earth. They would be wiped out by living in salt water for a minimum of 40 days (although this does make me wonder how much the salinity of the ocean would be disrupted if the volume of water essentially were doubled by fresh rain water). These fish in Lake Victoria (and thousands of other species like them in other lakes) can't just go to Noah. He'd have to go to them. And make aquariums for them.
@Bluemax The thing about Noah's ark is that i though it was only for land animals. For the flood to be to even be conceivable all water would have to either have low or no salinity. Salinity itself happens over time through the water cycle from the Ocean, so the areas of fresh water would not have the minerals. Creatures of the Ocean evolved over time to adapt to the salt. However that wouldn't account for the inaccuracy of the biblical time line of when it should have occurred due to cultures being in Pre-Spanish South America being highly developed. The Biblical data places the Flood at 2304 BC ± 11 years. The time line for pre-Maya culture in South America places the Huastecas and other proto-Maya cultures in Mexico around 2000 BC. I also don't think that the evolution of the animals in the ocean would have been that fast 2304bc to now is not that long for them to adapt to salt water.
The placing of a catastrophic global flood in the year 2304 BC means that all civilizations discovered by archaeology must fit into the last 4,285 years, which conflicts with many archaeological finds with radiocarbon dating. I think it might have been local or a fable of some sort. I'm a bit of a video game enthusiast. The final antagonist of three of the four main factions in Fallout New Vegas is Legate Lanius of Caesar's Legion.
Noahs arc is most likely complete bull. Just a myth, or there might have been a flood in the area where someone built a big boat and put animals inside.
Ah, well if you're going to appeal to magick then anything is possible. This was about those who try to rationally justify the Noachean flood tale, not just appeal to special pleading.
mag·ic ˈmajik/Submit noun 1. the power of apparently influencing the course of events by using mysterious or supernatural forces. "do you believe in magic?"
Trying to distinguish between miracles and magic is simply a matter of your own bias. For example, when Moses turns his staff into a snake would you consider it magic or miracle? What about when the Egyptian priests then do the same?
So you disagree with the bible? "“When Pharaoh says to you, ‘Perform a miracle,’ then say to Aaron, ‘Take your staff and throw it down before Pharaoh,’ and it will become a snake.”
10 So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did just as the Lord commanded. Aaron threw his staff down in front of Pharaoh and his officials, and it became a snake. 11 Pharaoh then summoned wise men and sorcerers, and the Egyptian magicians also did the same things by their secret arts:"
What about necromancy. Is that a miracle or magic?
I literally quoted ""“When Pharaoh says to you, ‘Perform a miracle,’ then say to Aaron, ‘Take your staff and throw it down before Pharaoh,’ and it will become a snake.”
10 So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did just as the Lord commanded. Aaron threw his staff down in front of Pharaoh and his officials, and it became a snake. 11 Pharaoh then summoned wise men and sorcerers, and the Egyptian magicians also did the same things by their secret arts:"" That's not trying to trick you. It's a legitimate question. I'll reiterate it for clarification.
"THIS IS WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS, DO YOU THINK IT WRONG WHEN IT DESCRIBES MAGICIANS AND SORCERERS?"
The only other portion I can think you'd possibly be confused about was the reference to necromancy because I didn't quote it, thus I will here. "10 Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft,11or casts spells, or who is a medium--
or spiritist or who consults the dead." or "Then Saul disguised himself by putting on other clothes, and went, he and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night; and he said, "Conjure up for me, please, and bring up for me whom I shall name to you." But the woman said to him, "Behold, you know what Saul has done, how he has cut off those who are mediums and spiritists from the land. Why are you then laying a snare for my life to bring about my death?"" Etc there's about 20 references to necromancy in the bible

I once believed the tale of Noah. I was taught it in school. I agree that it can often be difficult though.

You accept the view of evolution and are devoted to it. There's no evidence for it. Therefore, you're religious.

Believing that the story of Noah's ark actually happened is NOT a requirement of Christianity.
Hey i know that guy! he's a seemingly satanic Klingon disney villain! Lmao.
Yeah, i thought it was fishy.

good luck with that

its not a surprise
Mm. I feel like I’ve been talking to you a lot lately.
LOL facts are FAKE NEWS to that crew
Without Noah all the animals would be extinct.
it wasn't without god

has nothing to do with magic-we're talking about the one responsible for all creation.

What about necromancy. Is that a miracle or magic?
The bible doesn't teach magic. It was a demonstration of God's power
So you're saying the bible is wrong when it calls these people "sorcerers and magicians"?
Also I suppose you're saying necromancy is magic everywhere else, BUT if a necromancer uses necromancy in the Bible it's not longer magic?
Do you not see how ludicrous that is?
Where in the bible does it validate magic? I never said magic was involved-if this is supposed to be an attempt to trip me up-it's not a very good one
I literally quoted ""“When Pharaoh says to you, ‘Perform a miracle,’ then say to Aaron, ‘Take your staff and throw it down before Pharaoh,’ and it will become a snake.”
