How to Cope with Loneliness or Isolation - 4 Meditations that Lengthen your Life

Four Types of Meditation that Lengthen Your Life

1 – Compassionate Meditation

You can achieve this by playing with your cat or dog or gerbil or rabbit or chinchilla. You can achieve this by watching nature videos of animals taking care of their young. You can achieve this by watching cute children’s t.v. shows like Barney or Sesame Street or the Teletubbies. You can chose an object of meditation and declare and think loving thoughts into that subject. You can observe a religious personality who shows loving kindness and rejoice over their good deeds. You can also achieve this by watching videos of young babies or worship videos singing love songs about showing compassion to those who are less fortunate. Jews love to make these types of songs. I listen even though I don’t share the language and can only watch the pictures in the music videos.

2 – Inspiration Meditation

This is achieved by reading about heroism. I read stories about lives that were saved during the Holocaust. About men who won the congressional medal of honour for their acts of heroism or about people who risked their lives to help others during crises or about people who survived horrible things and lived to tell about it. You can also meditate on those who have survived insurmountable odds to achieve great things like in the movie “the pursuit of happiness.” You can read inspirational noble prize speeches or graduation speeches or watch them online. You can also gather quotes about changing society

3 – Accountability Meditation

Focus on a higher power or source or self or duty or vocation or calling or task that makes you stand in awe and feel humble and reverent and pious. For me, when I was in high school – staring at the sky or the beach and knowing something greater than me made everything and could control me and wanted me to achieve things made me stand in awe. Others feel awe when they observe the achievements of others which is when they study the history of inventors or great people. And some feel awe when they are in the presence of somebody who has done great things they have not done such as a doctor or surgeon or humanitarian. Others feel awe in the house of God

4 – Problem Solving Meditation

Focus on an intellectual challenge you want to wrestle with to train your brain and improve cognitive functions and keep you motivated and hard working. For me that involves studying religious symbols as well as decoding scriptural mysteries and learning new methods of organizing my research. For others it might involve reading free medical journals on health online. For still others it might involve playing an instrument either with a real instrument or an I-phone piano app or in improving their methodology of expression in written or oral or social form and for others it could involve dance or athletic hand eye coordination.
