Mature Christians are not stingy because they understand that God will reward them for their generosity
In Luke it says a good measure pressed down and shaken together will be poured down overflowing into your lap
The pressed down could mean you are temporarily persecuted or punished or penalized or deprived because of the good you chose to do or the positive emotion or judgment you chose to express
It might also mean that out of your devotion to God or to human beings or animals, you chose to forfeit the rewards or honour or luxury you were rightfully entitled to or given on account of your generosity or service or positive emotional appraisal of others or of things or of God
in return both you and the society you serve or the kingdom you serve will benefit from your sacrificed
But not only that, the unclaimed benefits you chose or were forced to miss out on will be repurposed for you into a bigger and deeper gain and reward, even if the reward appears at a different time or in a different way or through a different person than what you initially had
So that is one of many reasons why it would be foolish for any religious person to be stingy - either with their time of their emotions or their energy or their humility or their work or their intelligence or their talents or their prayers
