How I view Christmas as a Christian

For me Christmas is not about fancy clothes or expensive lattes

It’s about celebrating charity and good will

Celebrating the lives of those who died

Celebrating the family and friends who remain

Celebrating the opportunities to serve and help the needy and destitute

Celebrating our houses of worship

Celebrating our heating and electricity

Celebrating our charities

Celebrating our governments

Celebrating our homes and fireplaces

Its a time to bless the hungry

A time to cherish our neighbours

A time to praise our friends

A time to protect our children

Christmas is about Thanksgiving and charity

Not about sexy red dresses and expensive Burberry gifts

To me it is about Jesus of Nazareth being born and bringing light into the world and giving us hope, eternal life. It's about sharing love with family and extending outwards towards other.

There is so much opportunity right now to help the needy, there is more need than workers.

Technically i'm Catholic (not from a long line either technically too), but nowadays i'm realistically day-to-day a cultural Christian and my beliefs are more half-interventionist God half non-interventionist God and i like the old Pagan elements of Yule and Yuletide for the colour green and green Santa/Odin mascot deity. Haha.

Just an FYI if anyone cares for facts:

Christmas has nothing to do with Christianity. You won't see it mentioned in the Bible, in fact, what you will see is reference to "heathens" decorating trees- Christmas was a Pagan tradition celebrating a tree/Yule God and like Easter (Goddess Ishtar fertility Goddess) was brought in to try to make it more appealing.

Dec25th was to do with celebrating Winter Solstice. Christ was born several months earlier in lambing season August-September

To celebrate family, friends of all kinds. To give and celebrate Horus's, I mean Jesus's birthday as a main theme for the Christian kids to believe in.

I was also always told Santa and Tooth Fairy were real till I was like 9. Found out they werent and infront of a cousin of mine that I had a crush on... I know, I was homeschooled. Only girl my age I'd been close to. Still embarrassing as heck though.
