I've never celebrated any holidays or birthdays, should I actually give them a try?

Ah, girl! Same here!! My whole family are JWs, except my grandpa and aunt. I left it and told them I wasn't interested a couple years ago which was hard.
It's never too late! You should give it a try, it'll probably be a little weird since you're not used to celebrating all those holidays but you should if you want to.
What went down, btw? Has your family been supportive of you leaving "the truth?"
Feel free to message me about this stuff if you need any help or support, I know that the JWs can sometimes take things a little too far with disowning family members...
Personally, I don't really like my birthday and holidays, but that's just because I don't like being around a ton of people. It can be fun though, so if it's something you want to try then you should go for it. Halloween is coming up so you could hand out candy to kids or something like that, just start small and do what you're comfortable with. There's no pressure to do this type of thing so only do it if you really want to, and honestly, it's not a big deal if you aren't interested in this stuff.
One of my moms friends are JW, and we could wish her a happy birthday on fb and she doesn't do anything but likes the post lol. Its almost sad bc its like this is your bday the day you were born, I know its a religion but gosh I don't know. Holidays are a pretty cool thing to celebrate when they're done right.
Of course you can start!! In fact itll be more fun and wild than many your age as you're starting out - and when it comes to partying/celebrating, any new angle or excuse is fun for everyone! 😊
(By the way, wow, some mad religious practices out there. Christ.)
Yo... look you sound like you are still young... If I were you I would live my life to the fullest meaning do all the things you missed on but always be careful dont be one of the idiots that ends up in jail but you already know this hahaha just go out have fun

Hello, I was raised a JW and then left when I married my husband at 21. I do celebrate birthdays and Christmas but they have only become really exciting now that I have 2 children. I would hate for them to miss out on all the fun of birthdays and Christmas and to me I don't think about it as a religious thing I see it as spending some great time with my family.
Definitely. Birthdays are a great excuse for your family to get together and promote bonding although maybe in your case it might be more convenient to hang out with friends if your family still hold to traditions.
Holidays are also a perfect time do do things like BBQ's or go someplace nice and maybe fish or do other activities.
Do whatever u want to. For me my religion is my inner voice which always guide me what should i do n what shouldn't. I respect all religions as most people are attached to them. But for me the only religion worth following is the voice of ur being. :)
I haven't celebrated anything as well. I won't try cause I know there are many poor people who don't get anything. And I won't take myself for granted...
I sympathise with these people... and yes.. I would stay and live simple... without celebrations and all that
start IMMEDIATELY !! i lost a friend to jehovah's witnesses : we were both 9, coming back from a sleep over, car crash : parents have nothing, he has immense blood loss, transported to the hospital the parents said no to blood transfusion (you know jehovah's retards). I lost a friend because of idiotic parents. Run AWAY from them and start celebrating
Im a Christian, growing up i never celabrated Halloween, i only sat at home and ate the candy i got at school i do feel like i missed out a little but i see no reason to start now, thats lame i just buy a bag of candy at family dollar and watch tv on Halloween, so i hope this helps a little
For sure. I was raised Christian, but pretty strict, so it was the same for me. I don't go crazy for holidays, but celebrating your birthday is fun with friends and holidays are great for this sucky world.
Do whatever you want. I never celebrated my birthday but loved other holidays. Give them a shot see if you like it.
Never too late =) enjoy life and delight in simple things like that! Don't let what was keep you from what will be.
Go for it. I was raised Jehovah's Witness too. Holidays rule
If you wants to you can do it as long you're alive. : )
If you feel like you've been missing out on them then sure give it a try. It will probably feel awkward and really they are overrated. Be prepared to lose a lot of money if you do haha.
It's never too late to try a new experience. Talk to friends who did not grow up that way, If a birthday is something you want to 'try on' then I am sure they can and will happily help you.
It doesn't make much of a difference but if you want to then do it.
Damn you've probably saved a lot of money cuz of that hahah
i also had never celebrated lol
my mother'sā strict
even my little sister and neighbors spy on me
we should give a try
i m going to do it after 1& 1/2 year
i was thinking of Holidays in Ladakh region
I would like to know you more. I got same background from relatives and they do celebrate everything and I am just amazed that you dont
You'll have a blast I promise you! Its not too late!
Go for it, after all they are happy days and everyone deserves to be happy
Birthdays yes they bring you closer to death... holidays if u hve money then yes...
That's ur choice..
Nah, you're only 20. To hell with it. Try it all. The girls celebrate sexual liberation as well. You should try it too. Go for a full blown orgy.
If you're gonna be wicked "just be wicked with it all the way". Don't play with it ya'know.
Throw in some BDSM as well. I like the religious girls (:
Do you want to try?
Definitely
Give a try
