I watch lots of documentaries and on one specific topic this came along:
A Muslim girl was frightened at a medical office begging to have a hymen reconstruction surgery.
Because she had been force to marry and her wedding was coming soon. She confesses to having given her virginity to a guy who she loved and believe to be the guy of her dreams which did not come true.
And now she is afraid because her family is very religious and believes they will kill her and then they will kill themselves if they find out she is not virgin anymore.
I just need help understanding why do people go to this extents.
The person who asked this question is not a feminist. He does not care about Muslim women, he uses them to talk against Islam. Women are tortured in all religions and cultures. In India, female foeticide is happening and Hinduism is more patriarchal than Islam. The hindi word for husband means owner and the hindi word for wife which is dharam patni, it means obedient servant. In India, girl's parents have to bring marriage proposals first and they have to give dowry. 10 million girls every year in India get married below the age of 18 even though this is a small number considering the entire population.
Pakistan is a Islamic country, where a woman become a Prime Minister twice, her name was Benazir Bhutto. Pakistan even has women in the army and in the parliament, and Pakistan is a Islamic country.
Islam honours women. In Islam, a daughter is Allah's mercy, she is a means of gaining paradise for those who look after her. A wife completes her husband's half religion and a mother has paradise under her feet. In Quran, it says mother has paradise under her feet.
In Islam, a mother comes first and a father comes at fourth place.
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said, "whoever raises two girls until their adolescence will be close to me on the day of judgement."
When a mother is expecting a son, Allah says to the soul, "go on earth and help your father." When a mother is expecting a daughter, Allah says to the soul, "go on earth and I will help your father."
Prophet Musa who is called moses in Christianity asked Allah, "what reward do you give to a person when you are happy with him?" Allah replied "a daughter,"
Prophet Musa asked for the second time, "what reward do you give if you are happier than that?" Allah replied, "a daughter."
Prophet Musa asked for the third time, "What reward do you give if you happier than that?" Allah replied, "a daughter."
In Islam, a daughter has 5 rights 1. food 2. clothes 3. shelter 4. education 5. marriage a father who will give his daughter these 5 rights will go to paradise.
If you really care about Muslim women, then raise your voice for Muslim women suffering in Kashmir, Syria, Burma and Israel. Why is Russia bombing Syria, killing innocent people, turning women widows and orphans, destroying their houses, killing their brothers and sons? The UN decides not to do anything. However, when two Russian spies became unconscious, they made such a big deal about this, Theresa May went to Russia, to Brussels, she spoke to all European countries. Pakistani Prime Minister mentioned Kashmir's humanity crisis many times with UN but they didn't do anything. UN did nothing for Burma and they are Muslim women being killed in Israel. You watched a documentary, I watched two videos where a teenage Muslim Hijabi girl was shot dead by the Israeli police. Does this mean Judaism is strict with women? I saw another video where a 8 year old boy was strangled to death by the police and it was painful to watch the video. A baby in Burma was thrown in the fire.
Women in Burma are at risk of sexual exploitation especially if their parents have died. Does this mean Buddhism are strict with women? Women in Kashmir are raped by the Indian soldiers, does this mean Hinduism is strict with women? America and Britain invaded Iraq by falsely accusing Sadam Hussein of nuclear plans when it was America who helped Sadam Hussein to become a leader, they went there to steal oil, does this mean Christianity, Atheism and Liberalism are strict with women? In Islam, there are so many things in women's favour. In Islam, Mehr is compulsory for a groom, he has to give wedding gifts which can be gold jewellery, he has to sign a contract to say he will pay this much money if he gives divorce. In Hinduism, women have to give dowry and in Western culture, women would be called a gold digger. In Islam, it is compulsory for men to provide for their wives and children, there are so many prayers which are just compulsory for Muslim men.

You are giving me false accusations. I am more feminist than 95% of the people in your country. And I am more of the good guy of 99% of the people in your country. And I don't even need to know what country are you from.
I am an atheist, I don't care about Islam, Christianity, Judaism, etc, as long as people use them for peace and a righteous way of life. I just call the bad actions I see, you may check my previous question I talk about Christians killing at war. If I didn't care about women I wouldn't be asking this type of questions, do you even know what I do by asking Q's like this?
I raise awareness, I let people know things that otherwise they wouldn't have even though about. I let them know about injustice. And make them talk about the problem, so maybe people can come up with solutions. Perhabs next time I will ask about Christianity and abstinence would that please you? It wouldn't matter, as long as you approach this type of topics with an close mentality, you will be as helpful as if you didn't commented at all.

Well I am not ashamed to say which country I am from. The fact you judged my country without knowing which country I come from shows ignorance you did this because I am a Muslim. I am from Pakistan, and a woman became a Prime Minister in Pakistan twice. Her name was Benazir Bhutto, and the nation voted for her. She went to Oxford University to do economics. She was Theresa May's friend, and Theresa May found her husband because of Benazir. In Pakistan, there are women in the army and Parliament. Pakistanis women are also models, actresses, singers, doctors and news reporters. They are more successful and beautiful than women in your country.
I said I don't needed to know your country or religion because that is irrelevant. Judging people from the country they are from is a bad habit. I dont like the concept of division done by governments. In my eyes people is people despite where they are from, what it matters is the individuals.
And that's great, I am happy for Pakistan. I may check their path to success.

Those are traditions not islam. A Muslim be it a man or a woman should not have sex before marriage but if they do and repent to god they should be forgiven. If god forgive who are we to judge but some traditions take it to far to shame a girl and even kill her sometimes. It sad but Islamic
Some people take things too far. You will find extremism in all religions. I'm Muslim and I personally do not know a single Muslim who has such fears or belongs to a family like that. Women being seen as objects to be controlled is a vile viewpoint.
In general, Islam is harsh on everybody. Not a muslim, but I love reading up. They've rules for being clean for everyone, guys, girls, children, etc. It's completely possible for a guy to be stoned for his wrongdoings too! So it's not just the girl, really. Whether her family would kill her is more of a cultural thing where they are. In Malaysia, brunei, or most of where Muslims are, they would be really disappointed as they'd have pride themselves on having brought up a disciplined, virtuous and pure daughter, only to find that she gave in to carnal desires. In the more extreme middle east, it's hard to say but it's not unimaginable. Nonetheless, if that happens, the man who slept with her (ie her partner in fornication) would be publicly stoned as well. So it's really not just to females. The rationale behind that religon is really to create a loving environment for everyone to show the love of Allah, but I guess they got too caught up on the rules and forgot the love part. All religions - not only Islam - have degenerated and have been undermined and perverted by humans. The basic core is good, many rituals and 'laws' were originally unintended. (I believe in God and Jesus; but I do it my way) My point on Islam and female issues there: a (traditional) Muslim woman can be trusted; a (traditional) Muslim man - not. No surprise, where the 'rules' were worked out by some male savage desert dwellers.

All the Abrahamic faiths are pretty despicable in their treatmment of women. Of course Judaism and Christianity have by and large been reformed, it just appears that process has not yet happened.
Religion of Islam is not strict, however, Muslim scholars' interpretations have presented male dominant view, depicting women to be inferior and a "thing" to be kept under constant surveillance.
They wouldn't kill her or kill themselves i know that for sure.. its just that in islam women are prohibited to make love before they are married so they will be more valued... why so many people judging tho..

The difference in between the Bible and Qur'an is their ideology.
The Bible commands to love one another and treat your neighbor right and with love while the Qur'an commands to subjugate your neighbor and if he or she refuses Isalm or kill them for it.
There are plenty terrible statements in both the Bible and the Quran. Plenty of Christians practice the good things written down, the same way plenty of Muslims practice the good things written down- like being generous and respectful, being a charitable person. How can you call yourself a Christian but be filled with so much hate and disdain for a group of people you don't even know? You're judging billions of people by the actions of a few. How is that godly?
Islam is a piece of shit religion that would take centuries to reform and it would still suck after the reformation. It’s not even worth discussing it
