People enjoy sin and don't want standards of behavior and conduct. It is why we have all the problems in the world.

Because their hearts are hardened to Him and they are hoping God doesn't exist. But that's okay. The very words they speak will convict them on the last day. Matthew 12:37 - For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.”
So let me get this straight, people that don’t believe in god or the Bible are automatically going to hell, I don’t think it’s unreasonable to not believe in God since no one has ever seen him
@SmokinAces2000 No one is forcing you to believe anything.
Never said anyone was
@SmokinAces2000 Seems like God is forcing us. Burn in hell forever or believe in something that doesn't wish to prove itself.
@SmokinAces2000 yep, forever. No buying your soul out off hot water like Catholics think.
One that makes my mind boggle is when people believe Jesus is real but they discredit the bible and say it’s false.
These are known as fake Christians. If you can't believe the word of God then you may as well not believe in God because God and Jesus are both God.
😂 i believe that there is something out there that could be god but you can’t just act like you know for a fact that there is something out there

Well, the bible doesn't really have much credibility to discredit. Finding a temple here or a village there which is mentioned in the bible doesn't correlate to the supernatural claims of it being true. After all, every local folktale has its specific domestic context or it wouldn't be interesting to its people. An in group bias is a powerful tool.
As far as Jesus never existing goes, there aren't too many people who would be willing to stake that claim. However the ones who do and particularly Richard Carrier makes an extremely solid case against a historical Jesus.
So nobody is really discrediting the bible, all they're doing is pointing out what little credibility it actually has. The bible is an important source for western literary culture. Particularly the King James version. This is where a lot of our idioms like "by the skin of your teeth" and "a leopard cannot change its spots" come from. But as a source of historical fact? Not so much. No biblical predictions have actually come to pass. Of course, if you want to be extremely vague about what you consider prediction and rely on disputable interpretation, you can obviously invent your own predictions. Charlatans have been doing that for centuries. You can do it with other religions too and even Nostradamus' "predictions" rely on this type of interpretive gymnastics. This is no unique feature of the Bible.
As far as morality goes, we're lucky we don't actually look to the bible in order to decide how we should behave. If we did, our societies wouldn't function such is the abhorrent standard of biblical "morality".
A lot of fools going to Hell
Interesting that time is based on Jesus. I wonder why if he never existed.
Well, it wasn't actually used until around the year 520 something and was devised by Dionysius Exiguus who was a Catholic monk. Due to the fall of the Roman Empire around 150 years earlier and the fact Christianity had become the dominant religion of Italy over the last phase of that, by that time, the Catholic church had established a level of authority over the masses which allowed it to dictate things like dating systems. It was also part of a plan to stamp out the persecution of Christians. Christianity wasn't exactly welcomed by the locals with open arms. It was basically forced upon them. Before that, they used the Roman Calendar which began 750 years earlier and was based on a creation myth concerning the city of Rome.
The system is also actually a few years out from the accepted date of Jesus Christ's birth. So it isn't like they just started counting it as soon as he was born or anything. It is a post hoc adjustment and just happened to be done by the most influential people in Europe at the time. Which is why we still use it today.
Nothing to do with historical accuracy at all.
Well, I didn't select any answers, because they are all wrong. Why do those of us that are educated and accept reality discredit your bible? Easy answer really, we recognize that it is simply wrong in most of its historical claims, and opinion in its moral claims. We point this out to show you, we are not all followers of your bible, nor does it have the legitimacy for those of you that do believe in it to have the right to force the rest of us to abide by it. There is evidence that Jesus was made up. There is also quite a bit more evidence that he was real. But there is also facts that disprove Christian narratives. For example, first off, his name was Yeshua. What's more, there are multiple references from the first century that he was known as Yeshua ben Panthera, which when PROPERLY translated into English means Joshua, son of Panthera. (Yeshua doe not translate to Jesus, its closest accurate translation is Joshua). It was written that Jesus was the child of a Roman soldier named Tiberius Panthera.
The primary reason we discredit the bible, is because the bible is wrong.
Because there are good arguments people are making that would indicate its fiction based on some real events or other religions. I'd personally never take it so literal, it has things that have merrit to it. But that doesn't mean it happened like it says it happened. Stories change over time, and bible translations obviously got tampered with.
How else are we going to explain God gave rules on how to own slaves for example?
The unbelievers will always outnumber the believers, and satan and his demons are always trying to work through the unbelievers. Hell will have far more souls than Heaven.
Because the Bible is a self-validating book that claims to be the knowledge of an all-powerful, all-knowing being, that only uses that 1500 year old book to prove it. So instead of an all-powerful, all-loving being communicating directly with mankind he uses an old dusty book or some questionable minions. And if you get it wrong you burn in hell for eternity.
So? You believe what people tell you on GaG and they have only been around for a short time. The Bible is the most published book in the world and has been read for over 2,000 years. But people don't believe much anymore. Half the population doesn't believe the Holocaust occurred only 77 years ago. Yet they believe anything the government tells them.
@Daniela1982
"You believe what people tell you on GaG"
I have my own beliefs and have come to my own conclusions. GaG has nothing to do with them. I used to be a Christian and tried to write a book targeted towards sceptics proving it true. In the 2 year process of that, along with other experiences, I came to the difficult and existential conclusion that I could no longer believe what the Bible says.
"Bible is the most published book in the world and has been read for over 2,000 years"
Actually, it's 1500 years. And I've read the bible twice. Do you believe in Zeus? He's been around longer.
"Half the population doesn't believe the Holocaust"
There are eye-witnesses and first-hand survivors of the Holocaust, not to mention a multitude of corroborating writings, photos, trials, confessions, etc. Evidence in other words. It is a fallacy to equate disbelieving the Bible with disbelieving the Holocaust. The Bible was written by contributors many years after the events. There are no first-hand witness writers in the Bible, no primary sources. You can learn this fact from Christian Theologians.
There were eye witnesses in the bible. You were really trying to prove the bible was wrong. Be honest.
@Daniela1982 This is true. People (mostly liberals) believe everything the Gov't tells them while the Gov't steals their money through taxes. Even when gov't changes what it tells them. Amazing. The Gov't is now its own entity from IRS to FBI and CIA.
The actual writers of these books did not witness any of the events. They were written many years later. And the real writers are anonymous. Mark, Luke, Mark, etc., are just made up for convenience and each of the books seem to have been written by multiple authors.
I didn't learn those facts from atheists, I learned them from Christian theologians.
You poor lost sole. And you believed once , so your punishment will be severe in about 60 years.
There are only two independent reporters that mention Jesus. The Roman historians Josephus and Tacitus barely mention him, and both were born after the crucifixion. Every other account of Jesus takes place only in the Bible.
If God, as powerful as he's supposed to be, only has a 1500 year-old book to convince me he's real then he's not all that powerful, is he?
And the Roman's records of executions
Life is one continual test. Free will to do good or evil. Faith is a huge part of it. You must earn heaven. So it is what we do or don't do, not God. If he wanted Robots he would have created robots. You see God's power with weather. I think Hurricanes and Tornadoes are quite powerful.
There are no Roman records of executing Jesus. Plenty of executions and lots of records of that, but not a single one mentioning Jesus. As I mentioned, the only mentions of Jesus outside the Bible are from Josephus and Tacitus, written many years after Jesus' death. No where else. And Josephus and Tacitus were only reporting what others believed.
Eye witnesses and word of mouth. People in bible said they saw his miracles and healing. If not the bible would have never been heard of. I think the fact the bible is still so talked about today shows God's power.
What you seem to have missed is the verse in the Bible which said that "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be. 2nd Timothy 3:16. That says that God put into the hearts of men to write down what he told them to. So while the writers themselves were in different time periods they are in harmony with what others wrote down.
@Daniela1982
That’s a circular reference. The Bible is the best because the Bible says it’s the best.
I’m going to write a diet book and In it I am going to say that this is the best diet book. Anything that says otherwise is false because it is not written in my diet book.
You are talking about human thoughts and understanding Vs. God's abilities. You don't seem to think He can pull off whatever he wants.
@BlacklightShade MATTHEW, MARK, LUKE, AND JOHN were disciples of Jesus so they saw it all and each wrote their own books and they were pretty much similar in most of their writings. I would say they were witnesses. Some of them like Jon wrote more than one book, including Revelation.
@Daniela1982 Know your Bible better if you want to defend it.
All the New Testament gospels were written anonymously and were only attributed to Matthew, Mark, Luke and John later in the second century. We do not know who the real authors were, but scholars say they could not have been written by eyewitnesses to the events they portray.
"We are not 100% sure of who wrote the gospels."
evidenceforchristianity.org/.../
"It is important to understand that the dating of the Gospels and other New Testament books is at best an educated guess and at worst foolish speculation. For example, suggested dates for the writing of the Gospel of Matthew range from as early as A. D. 40 to as late as A. D. 140. This wide range of dates from scholars indicates the subjective nature of the dating process. Generally, one will find that the presuppositions of the scholars greatly influence their dating of the Gospels."
www.gotquestions.org/when-Gospels-written.html
Best Biblical scholarly guesses agree on this:
Matthew = Matthew - A. D. 55
Mark = John Mark - A. D. 50
Luke = Luke - A. D. 60
John = John - A. D. 90
Acts = Luke - A. D. 65
Romans, 1 Corinthians, 2 Corinthians, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians, 1 Thessalonians, 2 Thessalonians, 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, Titus, Philemon = Paul - A. D. 50-70
Hebrews = unknown, mostly likely Paul, Luke, Barnabas, or Apollos - A. D. 65
James = James - A. D. 45
1 Peter, 2 Peter = Peter - A. D. 60
1 John, 2 John, 3 John = John - A. D. 90
Jude = Jude - A. D. 60
Revelation = John - A. D. 90
How to impose your opinion on someone:
1. ask a question
2. all answers offend the party you disagree with
3. All answers are suggestive of your real thought
4. done
It's 2021 and idiots still believe in fairy tales invented two thousand (sic!) Years ago to control the gray masses!
But cool, you want to believe it yourself. JUST RESPECT THAT OTHERS HOWEVER PREFER TO SCIENCE!
You sweating yet?
What?
I have a different religion.
umm…Jesus could have been a real dude. That doesn’t convince me to convert.
Because no one has ever been able to categorically prove beyond all doubt, that "IT" ever has... Simples!
They follow a cult of falsehoods instead. That seems to be “cool” a chain of buzzwords and over qualified, overeducated threats take their focus because the life is useless, meaningless and without social interactions for them.
You're right, because it does such a great job of discrediting itself, so it doesn't need any help in that department.
I take it you were one who has not read any books explaining what the Bible really talks about so no wonder you think it discredits itself yet you support all the bad things it warns against.
@Daniela1982 Oh, what it "really" talks about. If you had read it you would know that, A) what we call "The Bible" isn't a single text or book, but is more like an encyclopaedia that was written over an approx. 1500 year span, and B) it talks about LOTS of different things, like theology, history, has poetry, proverbs, psalms, and goes on and on about how "God" manages to stuff up one thing after another.
@Daniela1982 Why do you say I "support the bad things it warns against"? You know precisely NOTHING about me.
and we don't want to know
Why not?
@rachelspiks You are right. The Bible was written by many people and it was all "God breathed", meaning God directed them what to write. But when you read the different gospels written by different people they basically the same thing, with just slight differences. All the books in the bible are in harmony. Get a good Bible commentary which is what the different books of the Bible are talking about. Specifically the book of Revelation. You will see things talked about in there starting to happen today, such as a one world government under control of a one world leader. It talks about how people will curse God about the heat and lack of water and the cost of food going up where one day's wages buys a loaf of bread. Look at the heat waves we are having, the lack of water in some places and the prices of everything going up. It will only get worse. He who is wise let him hear.
@Daniela1982 Literally every word of your response is wrong. The Book of Revelation isn't about "current events", and your "one world government" fears are unfounded.
It is about what is to come from visions
Not visions. John was taken into Heaven and shown the things that were to come. Of course John knew nothing about modern times or how to describe what he saw. He had no idea what an asteroid was or what he was seeing when he said in Revelation 8:8 "The second angel sounded, and something like a great mountain burning with fire was hurled into the sea; and a third of the sea became blood." It also said a third of the ships and 1/3 of the life in the sea would be destroyed.
It wasn't a vision, it was what he actually saw happening in the future as God controls time and space.
@rachelspiks You didn't read a word I said, did you?
@Daniela1982 I did, but I just don't agree with what you wrote.
That's ok. People are divided in everything anymore. You gotta believe what you believe.
I don’t need to follow a old book to know right from wrong.
You are sinning every day
If people has to follow everything in the Bible to get to heaven then it would be completely empty
They must understand the bible
So because I don’t read the Bible and I don’t live by it I’m going to hell 😂 does that not sound ridiculous to you
No, it is an automatic. It is for sure.
So a person can donate to charity, follow the rules, and just be a good person in general and they will still go to hell because they aren’t religious
You must realize Jesus, ask for forgiveness , try not to do same things again. You are required to give 10% of income, if not you violate theft commandment. So that is 20% all together. 10% is his , you have no say in the matter and 10% is from you as tribute. You know Churches don't run for free? You know it costs money to missionary and feed , clothe people ain't cheap. Jesus took donations and spent it all saving and healing people years ago.
I’m not required to give anything if I wanted to I could keep all my money and never help anyone when I’m ready to donate I will do it because I want to not because the Bible told me too that’s why I don’t believe that god would really send someone to hell over not worshiping him. I know plenty of great people that aren’t religious and that don’t believe in God that wouldn’t deserve to go to hell over something as stupid as that
Because you don't know the bible. You are religiously uneducated is why. Which will doom you. Ignorance is not an excuse to be saved from Hell.
Good people should go to hell that’s it there is no buts
*Shouldn’t
You could never have sweared, helped old ladies across the street, given to charities, never cheated on wife and yes you WILL go to Hell if you don't believe Christ is Lord , died and risen from grave. Jesus said , if you deny me , I will deny you from my Father and that means you don't get in to Heaven.
Men are born with a sin nature, so they can't self live a moral life on their own. I am glad you brought those things up and it shows that you really doubt your destiny. So, there is hope for you yet. But what you said lays the problem. People say they don't lie but they do.. They have lust and they say that is natural so therefore it is not bad.. People steal and say that is ok because I had things stolen from me. Another problem is the media and leftest's have created "gray" areas which tries to make bad actions ok under certain circumstances. That is man trying to act like God instead of following God. All the problems we have are from man , not God. Not even Satan. He can only temp you, but it is man that makes the conscious decision to do wrong. People's conscious' become numb after a while , so doing wrong becomes a habit and people are no longer sorry. If you are not sorry for what you have done , then you won't ask for forgiveness and without forgiveness you can't make it to Heaven. So, people think because they believe in God , that is all they need to do and they are grossly mistaken. Also , if you don't believe in Christ you can not be a Christian , which means Christ like.
Actually, atheists know the Bible better than most religious fanatics like you, because THEY'VE ACTUALLY READ THE STUPID THING!
They don’t like what it says
they scared of the name calling
F. None of the above.
Ok Genius what is the answer
He already told you. Are you blind? (Do I really need to ask that question? Of course you are, you're a - ahem! - 'Christian').
