That "I feel close to" is a somewhat odd way to frame the question. However, I am Roman Catholic and started one as a child, broke away from it for a time, and then came back to it out of conviction and study.
Catholicism is, when examined critically, a deeply intellectually complex theology that balances faith and reason and seeks to integrate them. Tapping into not just the Bible, but the ideas of thinkers such as Augustine, Aquinas - my personal favorite, Chesterton and others.
Thus it is not a simple or literalist vision of God, but one that takes into account the complicated nature of reality. Indeed, Catholicism takes science seriously and integrates it into faith. Thus, for example, is Vatican City home to one of the world's most accomplished astronomical observatories.
Also, to all this the Church adds a respect for ceremony and tradition. It having a rich ceremony in the Mass that lends itself to an ethic of reverence and respect.
To be sure, the Church is not without its controversies and subdivides. Such is any institution run by fallible beings. (Personally, the late St. Pope John Paul II was, to my mind, one of the greatest figures in 20th century history who, with President Reagan and British Prime Minister Thatcher, brought about the end of communism. The current Pope, to my mind, is a less impressive figure.)
However, the Church consciously seeks to orient itself to the balance of faith and reason, the individual and the community, and this makes it one of the most intellectually demanding, spiritually gripping, and emotionally compelling institutions in all history. Both as an institution and to me as an individual, Catholicism stands as something both relevant and eternal.10 Reply

+1 yBuddhism.
It's actually not a religion, it's more of a philosophy or perspective on how the world works and what our place is in it. The cool thing about it is that it wasn't that I read about Buddhism and thought, "oh this appeals to me, I think I want to live like this." it was more like I have just been living my life and thinking about life and how I want to be, what I think is important and the nature of reality, then I discovered Buddhism is teaching so many things that are parallel to my own thoughts on the same subjects before I even knew it existed.

Anonymous(30-35)+1 yyes i have, its catholic.
actually, when i was little i didn't know anything and my parents dragged me so i could join the catholic religion.
i thought it wouldn't be long last, but fate says otherwise... until now i still stay and i've turned out to be grateful. (even tho i still don't like it when my parents dragged me to know this religion), but i don't regret it.
i come to like it bcs the vibe makes me calm, and amazed at the history of the people who became saints, also i get to know the angels, God and the Virgin Mary, 7 deadly sins, heaven and hell, fallen angels
and it gave me a lesson not to discriminate against people according to anything, including religion.
no one is right, no one is wrong. all have their own uniqueness or privileges and all of them are good as long as they do not harm others.00 Reply

I have studied the occult and various mythologizes over the years. That is about has close to a religion as I get. As for a belief science fits the bill. Though it's good thing that more people don't study occult figures these days. Because I would probably wind up with a group of people with torches as pitch forks outside of my door at some point.

and I do know plenty of them, and many from different religions as well...10 Reply I was raised in a Conservative Jewish home, Conservative as opposed to Reformed or Orthodox. I find comfort in the idea that my people have been reading the Torah for thousands of years and I feel a connection to those that have come before me. Do I believe in G-d? yes. Do I have any proof? No. Are their events in my life where I should have been injured or killed? Yes. Do I believe that G-d interceded? Absolutely.

My belief however, is to be a good person and in the end, you can say you lived a good life. If there is an afterlife, then you will be rewarded.11 ReplyI'm a Catholic and I feel close to that and I feel that is the true religion, I don't care what these Christians say. I have some personal experiences that back up my beliefs.10 Reply 2.6K opinions shared on Religion & Spirituality topic. Not me. I decided at 11 that Christianity was probably not true. The events of the OT are clearly mythical. At 13 or 14 I was certain that no religion was true and that an anthropomorphic god was just Santa Claus for credulous grownups.
00 ReplyI do not.
I love it when people talk religion and totally take actions counter to the word. They seem so ignorant, hypocritical and of course very judgmental... which is not what Jesus wanted.00 Reply- 539 opinions shared on Religion & Spirituality topic.
