Why can’t all Christian denominations come to one agreement on everything? Why the division?

This comes from carnal and immature Christians. The Bible tells us not be divided but they don't listen.
There's only one faith, one baptism, one gospel and one Father God.
1 Corinthians 1-10-13
Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
For it has been declared to me concerning you, my brethren, by those of Chloe’s household, that there are contentions among you.
Now I say this, that each of you says, “I am of Paul,” or “I am of Apollos,” or “I am of Cephas,” or “I am of Christ.” Is Christ divided?
Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?
Ephesians 4:1-6
I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
Glory to God. I let God's word do the talking. In the same book it addresses the reason is because they are still carnel and immature spiritually so that's why they have petty fights and disagreements concerning the faith.
But they could put it all to rest if they backed off their pride and just follow God's word.
Muslims, Jews, Christians, Catholics, Mormons, Quakers and Jehovah witnesses all have different denominations. Some lie and say they don’t have separate denominations, but you don’t find out until years of dedication. A denomination is defined as a autonomous branch of the church/synagogue/temple.
When a religious building is defined as a denomination there are standards that are followed and the priest/pastor/bishop/reverend/rabbi/teacher
can be fired or removed from the location by the overseers. Some people want a democrat as a leader other people want a republican or some other standard that relates. There are also christian church’s that are non-dominational, the main reason is to have the freedom to direct the ministry, teachings and activities to serve their community without outside interference.
Interesting facts: it was found in 2000 that the Mormon church had over $100 million in assets. The Catholic church has a net worth of over $1.5 trillion. Islam is reported to have 1.6 trillion in assets. The Padmanabhaswamy Temple is India has over $19 billion in gold, there is supposedly $1 trillion that is disputed as being hidden in a vault that only the priests can open. One of the written laws of Christianity “the love of money is the root of all evil” a christian is allowed to have a lot of money, but if they love their money, are driven by greed and do not help the poor, the sick or the widow they are considered worse than an unbeliever. There were several lawyers that built religious buildings, but used the religious building breaking the laws of the religion itself, but following all of the laws within the country to run it as a non-profit business, we call these a cult. These are just a few reasons why religious entities would want a denomination to prevent someone from claiming to be of one religion, but being a cult.
I don’t know as much on Quakers, but I can tell you from experience that every Jehovah Witness place and person I have experienced says that, but when you study and go through the teachings it violates the laws of the Jewish text, they do not follow the Christian laws either they are willing to lie behind peoples back. you will have to research what happened in the 1950s “theocratic warfare” and other events to understand why it is considered a cult to Christians and other entities. Catholics are under the Pope (the bishop of Rome), whereas Christians and other entities separate themselves from that since it violates the law in the placement of the priest and the pope, etc. A lot of this probably won't make sense until you experience the differences. Catholics do define themselves though as the way you explained it.
Because they're all convinced that they're right and have the one and only key to salvation and that the others are all a bunch of heretics destined to spend eternity in a place with no air conditioning.
@Delicious_cookies I prefer a different view
A wise man once said, there are many paths up the mountain, all leading to the same place.
In other words... we're all right !!!
let's just try one thing: is being gay a sin or not? different christian denominations say different things
been gay is a sin in all Christianity even Islam, Iudaism, Hinduism and Budism.
@Alexandrubaschet08 nope it’s not
@ChrisMaster69 yep
@Alexandrubaschet08
Learn about denominations
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Homosexuality_and_Quakerism
Oh yeah, but no but, oh yeah but
Basically yes Christians do.
@ChrisMaster69 theous denomination accepted lgbt because they don't have people to come to theyr churchs.
Here in UK i had been invited to sooooo many church to come and participate to theyr praying but when i put serios questions they run away.
They simply want money from christians of bigger institutions
@ChrisMaster69 homosexuality is a HUGE sin in the bible
@Alexandrubaschet08 nope they have promoted gay marriage for years and we’re first to allow.
Do you realise how pathetic it sounds saying that about quakers and shows how very little you actually know about religion and especially the quakers.
@ChrisMaster69 man, that is such a small church that is irelevant and doesn't even respect the bible, so they can't call themself Christians.
They take the teaching of God tha make them theyr own.
God sayd i give you womans, to love her and live whit her and populate the world...
@Alexandrubaschet08 they have played a fair bit of importance.
Also Methodists are fine with it.
It’s mainly homophobes using religion as an excuse to hide behind
@ChrisMaster69 to hide from what?
@Alexandrubaschet08 as per the perfectly acceptable English sentence
@ChrisMaster69 I admit that religion is one of my defenses and attacks, but it is not my main argument.
Nature / naturalness, social order and biology are my main arguments.
Religion is just a nice package to the package of arguments I have.
@Alexandrubaschet08 being gay is not a sin in Buddhism, Buddhism has no sin. Also united church, one of the largest Christian denominations does not consider it a sin. You need to educate yourself
You need more thois are sectes, same like kkk, they invented theyr own religion, own God. Stop bullshiting.
In the bible is say clear that man are made to be whit womans and the homosexuality is not accepted. The end, educate youraelf
@Pterodon the unites church is one of the largest Christian denominations on earth. It is 100% Christian.
Chatolics and Orthodox are the biggest Christian Churchs and Protestants are separated in hundret of denomination that interpret the bible as they want not as they had been teach.
As example, you whit your LGBT church. Blastemy
@Pterodon Yes it's Christian. Look it up. The united church which accepts gay people is a VERY large Christian church. Your homophobic language makes you seem like a complete loser by the way.
It does not really matter to me, if you are gay or not. But when asked if it's a sin according to the Bible, the answers are clear, indisputable, and can be read in the scriptures (many of the scriptures mind you).
I linked to a video going into details, since I do not want to spend time doing this.
What you do, it is up to you, your life and your salvation are at stake, not mine. The denominations stating unbiblical doctrines are false religions according to the Bible and will not be saved either.
@smølf lol did you just watch a YouTube video and then believe it? Jesus said nothing about being gay being a sin, nothing. Most Christians do not consider it a sin, only extreme fundamentalists do. And they are on the way out.
The apostles said so and if they were not inspired by the holy spirit as the Bible stayed they were, then non of the Bible is true. As the Bible is, however, both God in the old testament and in the new testament made it clear.
Sex is only permissible between a husband and a wife (note plural), as male and female only. It is indisputable.
The video just goes into the details, in case you care, I do not want to copy stuff from the internet to show you what I just told you is true.
You can see the video for details or not, but the video proves what I said is true.
@ChrisMaster69 because the same applies. If you’re a female and you sew a dick on to fuck a female then you’re a fag in Gods eyes. Personally I don’t give a shit what you do. You don’t have to answer to me. But you will stand before Jesus and you will be judged. There’s two sets of laws. Man’s and Gods. Who’s laws do you think Jesus will judge you with?
@ChrisMaster69 I’m not going to argue with you. It’s written in Leviticus what God thinks of fags. It’s also written in Corinthians that they’re not to be in your church. Since there are churches allowing it is called apostasy which is the rejection of the truth and allowing things to take place in your church that the Bible says isn’t allowed. Those churches are no longer recognized by God. It is prophesied that many churches will crumble because of apostasy. So you can choose to attend a church that follows Gods laws or not.
@Pterodon mainly as you are soooo wrong and it’s a huge loop hole 😂😂😂😂
love it, a girl can transition to be a guy but leave her girlie bits
Additionally it’s hysterical when you precious church is leaking with abused kids by those involved in the church.
Yeah we don’t allow ‘fags’, as too many already work there 😂😂😂
@smølf people who are against gay people making love are starting to look more and more like relics of the past, people with old, wrong, gross views. The whole world is moving towards accepting love and rejecting the hate that some christians give.
@t-8900 a gay person expressing love to someone they love isn't a sin. Very very few people think that these days, and fewer every day.
@t-8900 it’s not a sin, it’s an act of love.
@t-8900 that's old testament. If you believe everything in the old testament, then you should hate rich people... do you hate the rich as well as gay people?
@t-8900 so, it’s not love if they are christians but it is love if say atheists or Buddhists etc
Interesting.
It likely also says Priests should not fuck kids, then again Christian’s seem to get off on it.
I guess thst sort of love is allowed.
But two girls are not allowed to have love…. Oh yeah it don’t mention that
@t-8900 yeah but arseholes quote scripture but then don’t quote other stuff.
There is a rule against everything if you look for it.
It’s amazing how religious people love destroying the love people have for each other.
@anon no i think its against the teachings of Christ to hate people. I dont hate the rich, just not into that lifestyle its simple enough. If I hated gay people I'd hate my sister, I dont I love her. So i think you all got it confused. the whole "its gotta be this way or that way". last girlfriend was bi. not sure why y'all are coming at me like this. I simply said the bible says what it says and now we got a meltdown potentially. Chiiiiilllllll. I'm not the type to enforce things on others so who cares?
@ChrisMaster69 hence why I ask questions and always ask them. I'm actually fairly open minded bro. I'm not hostile about it. I won't treat a gay person different from a straight person. unless they are trying to flirt. In which case I kinda laugh and say no thanks i dont roll that way. haha
@t-8900 the implication is there and very obvious.
@ChrisMaster69 interesting. Well i guess people will choose how they take words and do what they will with them. It is what it is. I always said at the end of the day people choose weather or not to be offended by something. Imho it's just a meh I ain't got a hat in this race type deal. doesn't affect me one way or the other. We all meet our maker and that's simply that. I'm not trying to step on people's toes. I'll be about my business then.

I think God exists but he is unconscious. Like an animal.
That's why animals suffer and it's OK. Because it's temporary.
Christians believe God sends you to hell to scream and burn for all eternity.
It's nonsense. All these denominations are wrong. Anyone who believes in hell is wrong.
What is the right way to view Christianity? Nobody knows? I don't know. I Feel like all these religions need to evolve quite a lot.
In my mind the Bible is merely to help you accept this reality as it is. Despite all the pain and suffering in this reality, it's worth it and it's beautiful.
One should feel perfect peace despite the bad parts of this reality. Because ultimately, God is merely an unconscious animal. He creates Because he has no choice to. He recycles himself and creates again and again.
I suppose. Lol. Don't take what I say seriously. But I do learn about the Bible and the things I learn make me think God is more like an animal or a force of nature. Not a guy in the sky who punishes you and sends you to hell. The concept of hell isn't even accepted at the highest level of theologian circles.
Yet people still believe in hell.
Other reasons why Christians disagree is. because the Bible is often directly contradictory. So is the Jewish and Muslim texts and they also have division. Less than Christians but still. It's very logical to conclude there will be division when these tests are explicitly and implicitly contradictory.
I think it was written that way on purpose. There is a meaning behind that. I think it means the details do not matter. What matters is you believe that everything is going to be OK and you can have perfect peace in this life despite the negative things you see.
There are certain fundamental disagreements between the denominations, which have historical and often violent warlike reasons.
For example:
Catholics think the Pope is the ultimate authority on religious matters, and that on matters of religion he cannot make a mistake. They also think the Bible is a collection of books written by men, flawed and prone to error.
Protestants (most subsects in America derive from this) think the Bible (scripture) is the ultimate authority, it is divinely inspired and without error.
Catholics believe in the intercessory power of prayer and saints.
Protestants believe in a direct communion with god which does not require intercession by anyone or anything, and this prayer to saints is a form of idolatry.
Catholics believe statues and pictures can be used to focus and inspire.
Protestants believe any statues or pictures used in worship and prayer is too close to idolatry.
Catholics believe only the perfect go to Heaven, and the merely good go to Purgatory to be purified before they can enter Heaven. Evil people go to hell.
Protestants do not believe in Purgatory. They think that those who believe in Jesus as their saviour, go to Heaven.
These are fundamentally opposing beliefs. They can't be reconciled into one faith.
Because organized 'Christianity' is predicated upon a 'career clergy's malleable 'agenda'...
ALL promote the fiction of Jesus' and Mary's angelic ascension and... NONE will admit
to the History Channel's expose' that twenty years ago, Jewish archeologists
confirmed irrefutably genetically finding the PHYSICAL REMAINS of BOTH Jesus of Nazareth
and his mother in the family crypt when Jerusalem's developers dig into a hillside
to prepare to build an apartment complex!

There is NO 'Santa Claus' BUT... there WAS a Saint Nicholas~
Christianity was briefly unified between 325 and 1054 under the Roman Empire, then Orthodox (Constantinoble-East) and Catholic (Rome - West) occurred, which was more so to do with West - East political divide of Roman Empire.
Then there was the Protestant reformation schism from the Catholic Church (West) in 1500's, which seen formation of Lutheran, Baptist and Presbyterian strands of Western Christianity.
I think many people nowadays are too set in their ways to ever consider a reunification, plus people like variety. Like McDonald's, Burger King or Wendy's are very similar fast food outlets, but people still have their preferences.
because human minds work differently, have different emotional damage, hormone levels firing the emotions (and logic), bias towards emotion or logic and ability (intelligence levels, speed) and thus they perceive differently. Getting them all to agree on everything is not possible. Getting anyone to agree on everything is not possible. Is the earth flat or a globe?
Thus I respect anothers perspective, doesn't mean I agree with it. I can learn from others of how they see things.
We'd like to think we are all the same but we are not... any of us. We are all individuals.
Because Jesus couldn't be bothered to explain much about how He actually wanted things to work. He said that His return in glory would be happening within the lifetimes of some of the people He was speaking to; unless he meant the bristlecone pines, or the human reincarnation cycles or something, that didn't happen. Consequently, the decision to not make things clearer REALLY backfired (hint, hint, Lord!).
In a less immediate sense, much of religion is derived from culture- and THAT is where the real conflict lies.
Because there is no unifying authority to which all of them submit. One Christian will claim that the Bible says this, but another that it says that. But then that begs the question of who determines whose view is the truth? They might each claim that the Holy Spirit guides them, but the Holy Spirit cannot contradict Himself, nor can He teach or inspire error.
This is what is known as the doctrine of "sola scriptura", or the belief that the Bible is the sole rule of faith. This belief is false and it is also unbiblical. In fact, there are areas in the Bible itself that teach the exact opposite. What it ultimately comes down to is pride.
The Catholic Church appeals to the Bible, but also to Sacred Tradition (which Christians are admonished to follow in the Bible itself). We also have the chief guardian and teacher of Divine Revelation, the Roman Pontiff, the pope.
Lets take it step by step.
1. First all denominations >Catholics, Protestants, Eastern Orthodox and Oriental Orthodox need to agree on the same and universal definition for the Holly Trinity and to understand in the same way or at last as much they can from it.
2. The Pop should not be recognise as infaelible in order to bring Eastern Orthodox close and Oriental one, give up to the idea of purgatory, agree on some details for the rituals and traditions as well.
3. The west church need to apologize for the 4 cruciade.
4. The Catholic Church need to stop been so rich and ask for so many money to brin close the Protestants more close
and many other, but because i don't understand to much the Protestant belivers i can't say that much agruments for such a big unification
The many Christian denominations exist because of originally stupid and petty disagreements within the faiths.
Protestants branched off from Catholicism because they didn't want the pope. Baptists branched off because they wanted to fully submerge in the waters and openly declare Jesus as a savior. etc, etc. They will never agree since the very reason for so many denominations are disagreements.
I'm a Catholic and a Trinitarian Wiccan. Go figure.
They have different understandings on what happened thousands of years ago. Today, people cannot even agree that the Holocaust happened, even though there were many thousands of bodies and pictures of the terrors there. No surprise that they have problems agreeing about events from thousands of years ago.
Because religion just reflects what one chooses to believe. It's not anything based on facts, therefore it will never be the same for everyone and never correct.
If you want proof of my answer there is millions of examples through the Abrahamic religions alone, which is nothing compared to the amount of other religions there have been and is.
Because it's all just make-believe. None of it is real, so there's no way to resolve any of their disagreements. All we have is some nebulous ancient texts written in dead languages, then translated. There's no agreement on the translation, and even less agreement on the meaning. Is masturbation a sin? Who knows? Who cares?
The main difference between most religions is political, how things are organized, who's in charge, even when the basic beliefs are very similar. So, if you take a bunch of people with different political beliefs and try to get them to work together, failure is the only outcome.
In my opinion, the divisions come from the religious practices that are man-made and not part of the Bible. For example, the Catholics have their Hail Mary practices where they make her equal to Jesus, which directly contradicts the Bible. The divisions start when the denominations come up with their own rituals that are not directly stated in the Bible and therefore left up to interpretation.
You'd never be able to get Catholic and Orthodox to agree on everything because their denominations depend on a disagreement: the apotheosis of Christ. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure Catholics believe Christ ascended to being God, where Orthodox believes he did not and was just an exceptionally great man and teacher.
First you have the great schism. Due to various disagreements in religious and political power, the Western and Eastern branches divided following the excommunication of the Patriarch of Constantinople Michael Cerularius.
Is it acceptable to use unleavened bread for the sacrament of communion? Should priests be celibate? Then you have the Protestant Reformation. Unfortunately, there are way too many ideas on how to interpret scripture that it just isn't going to be a thing any time soon.
So many interpretations of the same text. Its the same with islam. there's so many sects... How do you know you're following the "right" verison of your religion?
Youd think the book of a literal God wouldn't be so vague...
Because they do not use the right principles of scripture interpretation and for the most part insist on non-Biblical doctrines. Hence nearly 40.000 denominations worldwide.
https://www.youtube.com/embed/oQc39XAjMZ4Yeah start with the immaculate conception of Jesus and it already goes down hill from there lol. It's impossible tbh.
simply put... money
money, control and influence... just like many other and pretty much every institution out there
Because some people just will not wear the right clothes to church! They must be silently judged for it!
Because they are all bullshit, just like every other religion.
If any were verifiable, there wouldn't be denominations, just facts.
Because they are all interpreting the bible in their own ways.
they mostly agree on the big stuff but not so much on the little things thats why
Because the divisions are too deep and they're not all really Christians; expect Donald Trump and his first wife to remarry sooner.
Because it's Satan that is really in charge of human society, religions were invented by him to cause division and disharmony between people,,,
It’s impossible to have everyone agree on fabricated stories.
People generally agree on things that are factual and easy to prove real.
Is that supposed to make a point?
Because Jesus lived 2000 years ago and different people have different philosophical and spiritual takes on what he represented and how to lead a Christian life.
because man makes religion about what is best man and not what is best for God
Because obviously god isn’t there to provide leadership. Most likely because he doesn’t exist and was invented by man.
He provided leadership throughout the time the Bible was written and provides it through people today. If God did not exist, how were you made, who allows you to breathe? “As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all.”
- Ecclesiastes 11:5
Religion is blasphemy.
Because religion is not what divides them.
Really? Why ask such an easy question? 🤪 lol
Only a lie has so many denominations
Each one has a different belief, that is why.
Why not?
same with jews
Why does it matter
