How far do liars progress to satisfy their egos?

I know a woman that is constantly bragging - I told my parents and they think she is mentally ill - like my mom says I should avoid her because somebody who tries that hard to get attention might also hurt or harm others for attention and now I wonder if her life story is fake and she never had the problems she claimed to have, she treats everything as if it is a competition and refuses to share good news or praise with others, and I don’t like her because the bible says you must live to glorify God and not yourself.

Have you looked into politics lately? Liars will lie about the lies they lied about even for petty gains, even when literally everybody knows theyre full of sh*t. People like that can't stop, and they get very hostile and neurotic when called out for it.

It shouldn't be taboo to glorify yourself, but nobody does it unless they're internally damaged. And I would bet whatever story she told about herself is partially true.
Glorifying god means simply realizing you don't know everything, and not just relying on the ideas your ego gives you.

I think glorifying God means egoless submission or sacrifice or service to God - not necessarily a lack of pride, but a lack of greed and dominance.

That's better, many think we've got to hate ourselves in order to serve others, and it couldn't be further from true. And sacrifice isn't a good word, its origin is the type of blood sacrifice for dark spirits.
Less greed, less manipulating others for profit. That's a path of spiritual growth. But GOD is not absent in the most evil either, as many bible verses state, Isaiah 45.7 most directly.
One of the most difficult tasks we have is to have empathy and compassion for those who hurt and put us in danger.

Remember Jesus told us that the devil is the father of the lie. We saw how far he went with Adam and Eve. We see the result everyday of the effect of his lies on others. So those who lie are from their father the devil.

We must continue to love the person and hate the sin however. Until Armageddon happens, their is a chance that sinners can turn around and repent, thereby gaining forgiveness and the chance to forever be sons and daughters of the most high God.
