What do you think would have happened if Adam and Eve would have said I’ve sinned and I’m sorry instead of blaming it on another?

Adam blamed his sim on Eve and Eve blamed hers on the devil. This is a very hypothetical question and I’m sure God would have punished them either way but do you think it would have been a less severe punishment if they would have taken more responsibility for their sin?

The answer depends on what level of understanding you mean. Basically I think this is about causes followed by effects, whatever your conception of the word God or Karma. The first step towards mental maturity is accepting ourselves as we are. The logical result will be an easy coming forward for committed sins.

But then, what’s a sin? In relation to what is an action a sin? In any case every single deed, good or bad, has consequences, which, according to one’s convictions can be attributed to God or Karma. Deep in ourselves we know when we’ve done something wrong. In genuine humility coming out for bad things done is already getting forgiven for some part, be it only because we would be inclined to avoid repeating those mistakes.

The knowledge of good and evil changed everything. God is a forgiving God and if they had repented He may have forgiven them but the consequences of their actions required being kicked out of the Garden of Eden.

Eve didn't blame the Devil; she blamed the snake. Which makes sense, as it was the snake that told her the truth. That's what so many people don't seem to grasp about the story: it's not about Adam's sin, or Eve's, but GOD'S- GOD is the one who lied. The snake just pointed that out. How the snake knew this is another issue, but the story doesn't address that.

Once they'd eaten the fruit, they knew that they'd been lied to, and so had to leave, since they wouldn't be suited to staying any longer.

That’s not the point. Bible stories are allegorical. People ARE more likely to blame someone else than to admit to their own faults. The examples in the Bible are meant to help people make better choices. I suppose some positive reinforcement examples couldn’t hurt. However, it’s also written to suggest that life on Earth isn’t always fair, even when we make good choices. Since the only real reward for good choices comes after you die, the negative reinforcement lessons were probably viewed as more valuable overall. Just to keeps it real. Ell oh ell!
