You think that Scotus allowing prayer in school will help or hurt religion?

Clearly, many of the people responding here did not read the case.
Parents sued a school for failing to prevent a coach from taking 30-60 seconds to have a silent prayer at the end of a game, on the field. The coach didn't force or even ask anyone to join him, though some players did so. A few parents demanded that the school prevent this.
The Supreme Court ruled that the coach, and the players, had freedom of religion, and were allowed to practice their religion in such a manner. Again, this was a silent prayer, and no one was expected to participate - it was entirely optional.
There's a HUGE chasm between this and teaching religion in school, or forcing students to pray. The Court recognized that religion was not BANNED in schools or anywhere else, and that religious freedom is exactly that. What is banned is the school teaching or promoting a religion, and that's not what happened in this case at all.
Neither. It's not prohibited to pray in school. Any student can pray when they feel like it as long they aren't causing a disturbance.
Look man, prayer is for religious temples or at home. School should just be for schooling. It's what I believe.
Hurt.
It's just going to result in cringeworthy sermons from Christians, and firings over whatever religion or prayer teachers are performing to proliferate.
Basically, it's gonna make religious fruitcakes look worse than they already do.
The generational backlash from this is likely to drive even more people away from Christianity and into atheism, Satanism (as in The Satanic Temple), and agnosticism.
Which, frankly, will only benefit things.
So it'll hurt religion, but it will help humanity.
America is a country where you are free to be Christian, not a free Christian country. American politicians seem to have forgotten this. America is a melting pot of all faiths, religions and that can become very disrespectful for other faiths if a teacher is implementing prayer in a classroom.

You’re such a stereotype of a Leftist I can almost picture you farting sprinkles as you gulp down an iced oat milk caramel latte that your “partner” got for you before the two of you went to the march downtown to scream about the zealots “infringing” on your rights to be a birthing person.
I am atheist, but I don't care if people pray no matter who they are or where they are. In this case, the coach prayed after the game on the sideline. Eventually some students started to join in. This is fine. If the non praying students received unfair treatment then I would have a problem, but there is no evidence that is the case.
If the country has freedom of religion, how can you tell someone not to pray?
Seriously, think that through.
Since no one is told have MUST pray and no one is COMPELLED to pray then this should be a non issue.
If someone has an issue if 2 or 3 people gather off to the side somewhere and say a quiet prayer and they want the power of the state to step in and squash their freedom of religion right then they are just messed up.
Allowing prayer in skools isn’t the same as “pushing it on” people. They aren’t forcing people to pray, let alone requiring a specific religion. All they’ve done is ensure that kids of all faiths won’t have to attend private, religious skools in order to observe their faith. You know Muslims pray five times a day, throughout the day. How oppressive must it have been for families to come here and try to assimilate their faith in this overly secular culture? I think it’s a good thing.
Christians ok with Muslim prayers, or Satanic prayers in schools? That door is open now.
Neither because who cares, This isn’t the schools promoting pray this is a guy who had a private pray on the 50 yard line and some kids joined him. He didn’t order them to pray they voluntarily joined him what is wrong with that? Secularism is a religion why is secularism allowed in schools but Christian’s are not
I am actually going out on a limb here in that saying Seperation of Church and State is a necessary thing here, even though granted that most of us prior to 1960 recited the lords prair and US Allegiance before every class ever began. I don't know where that ever began, It was if you were taking an oath in the US Military every morning in any US School, so I personally could see how that could be considered indoctrination.
Then you are not the brightest.
It's like saying "if you want to learn to be lazy, go to work".
You can read whatever you like, but understanding and enlightenment is not something just anyone can have.
Nothing is being pushed onto anyone in this decision. Quite the opposite--they've ruled that can't push people into NOT praying. So by your argument you should be happy because previously people were being "pushed" into religion by rules preventing it.
Eh. I don't see how not banning something means that all of a sudden there's going to be all this peer pressure to do it and then everyone is doing it. That just makes zero logical sense.
it's only gonna help. Personally, I'm tired of reading about another teacher being fired every other week for having a "Christian" prayer for an event. Especially, when you look at the bat shit crazy stuff that schools are allowing these days.
Nobody will be forcing anyone to participate. That's just more anti-Christian fear mongering from the left side of things. Let people pray if that's what they want to do. It doesn't hurt you, and it helps them. The end.
I'm sure the church of Satan is ready to spread their gospel to the school system..
If you don't like that idea , now you know how everyone who isn't a total religious nutjob feels about it.
They have the entertainment industry and advertising.
@DermalPunch blaming capitalism?
Not blaming anyone or anything.
It will hurt America and the SCOTUS has lost their credibility.
I remember a conservative who was in favor of prayer in school until she realized it isn't limited to Christian prayer.
It opens the doors for all religions and those same people who want christianity in schools will cry foul when it's muslim, satanist, jewish, wican, hindu expressing religious freedom in schools.
Prayer was never banned in US schools.
Not only do they teach ngqybabcdefg2k+ crap but they have to teach invisible guy in the sky too?
Well, if they're teaching about magic Germans, then yeah, they should teach about God as well.
Allowing prayer at a football game is not the same as allowing it in school. Extracurricular != school.
I mean prayer was never banned in the first place. Schools just don’t organize prayer. I mean nothing is stopping a group of people from gathering and praying in school.
Prayer helps society more of us need it but don't realize it's power
I think prayer is the most important thing in a person's life. You don't have to pray just have a quiet moment if you don't believe in God. This gives you an opportunity to reflect upon oneself.
