Why is the Bible so sexist?

Ephesians 5:22-24 Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

Exodus 21:20-21 If a man beats his male or female slave with a rod and the slave dies as a direct result, he must be punished, but he is not to be punished if the slave gets up after a day or two, since the slave is his property.

1 Peter 2:13 Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every authority instituted among men.

2:18 Slaves, submit yourselves to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh.

Leviticus 25:44-45

Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves. You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property.

let me take a shot at this since I have a degree in religious studies. i will start with the Ephesians verse

He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church— 30 for we are members of his body. 31 “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” 32 This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. 33 However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
so Paul is using the relationship between husband and wife to illustrate how the relationship between members of the church and Jesus should be.

What makes any of these things sexist? 2 of the four scriptures were old testament and not practice by modern day Christians looked as more a historical reference. the one about marriage i explained, the last one is basically say obey the laws by the government you live in. which i think is common sense

The following verses in Ephesians also state, as do other sections of the New Testament, that a man is to love his wife as Christ loved the Church and delivered Himself up for the Church. For more on this, see The Passion of the Christ.

it depends on what you mean by sexist. if you mean that sexist is a negative attribute you apply to someone, then i'd say the bible is not sexist because there's nothing negative about God.

if the bible isn't sexist, then you have to change your views on what the bible has to say about sex and marriage.

on the other hand, if you think you're qualified to judge God- then i'd say the bible is sexist because you think you know better than God.

Cherry picking verses is all you have... READ all of Ephesians 5 and see what the DIRECTIONS for MEN are.
