Some people apparently think they'll exist forever, that there is some kind of 'afterlife'. Why?

Actually, two questions: why do you believe this, and why do you want to exist forever? I'm actually glad that blissful oblivion awaits me at the moment of death. I don't want to live forever; one lifetime on this earth is enough for me.

I will of course admit that I don't know what lies beyond this life (if anything), but for my own personal reasons I don't like the afterlife concept. Or reincarnation, although in the case of reincarnation at least your previous life is completely forgotten and you get the chance to live again, and maybe make better choices.

I believe that man and this globe were intelligently designed by a Intelligent Designer or a First Cause, Cause. Given this is visually apparent in earth, man, etc then I am going to believe my Creator’s Word.
If His Word says Eternality Is then it is…And if He says know Me In and Through Jesus the Christ…then I’ll be eternally happy, incomprehensible from my worldly experience, then I am going with the Creator Designer over the other designed creatures’ opinions. Not difficult

I was raped and almost killed and went to the other side, I did not want to come back... so I know something exists there. It was so peaceful and wonderful... that as a result I am not afraid of death at all.

I also got to be with my grandfather that I didn't know that well, that was great... until I had to come back to suffer more in this life.

Life gets a very precious aspect once one becomes aware it will end. If ever there is an afterlife, it certainly will be in a very different form. How one understands that notion depends, as always, on the level of understanding and philosophy.

Well... you do know that just because someone SAYS they've been somewhere, or done something, or believe whatever, that that on its own isn't sufficient evidence for anything. Why should I take their word for it?
As for being a "lesbo", no, I'm not, but if being a lesbian gets you barred from heaven, then I wouldn't want to go there anyway.
