Historically the ethnic depiction of Jesus changes based on the region Christianity is worshipped in which is why in Ethiopia Jesus is depicted as African and why you have depictions of a Chinese Jesus in China, Indian Jesus in India, Persian Jesus in persia, Arab Jesus in Arabia, greek Jesus in Greece, Japanese Jesus in Japan, germania Jesus in Europe etc.

Just because a person lives in the middle east doesn't mean they have brown skin or are Arab.

If you want to know what Jesus a jew looked like in 30AD you need only look at the Samartians today. The Samartians are a hebrew people like the Jews. At one time Jews and Samartians were one united kingdom and people but split after the death of King Solomon into the kingdom of Israel or samaria (samartians) and the kingdom of Judea (jews). Religiously Jews and samartians believe the same things going back to Genesis in the bible right up until the babylonian exile in book of Daniel. Unlike the Jews who were exiled and roamed the globe for over 1000 years the samartians stayed put in the old kingdom of Israel and judea, they do not intermarry with others outside their people and have remained largely unchanged though have been persecuted since the fall of Israel. Most of what you said is accurate, but Jesus really worked would've been dark skinned and "Arab/Pakistani looking" back then. They used actual science to figure out how he really looked in that second image OP posted. And for the record, I'm not religious, so I don't care either way
But Jesus 100% wasn't white/light skinned.

@MCheetah they used actual science to compare the dna of Jewish and samartian graves to present day Jews and samartians, very little difference. I would also point out that the climate was very different 2000 years ago in Israel, more green and less desert. Arabs are the color they are from travelling through deserts as nomads. Jews back then probably were comparable to other Mediterranean peoples such as Greeks, etruscans, phoenicians and Romans.

That first "modern" version of "Jesus" isn't even Jesus. It's Cesare Borgia. All the art of Jesus during the Renaissance used Cesare Borgia as Jesus.

Though the details in the second image are wrong too, even if the image is accurate. Assuming he even ever existed, Jesus was most CERTAINLY not a Jew! And he never sided with sinners or had half siblings either. I'm not religious or take religion seriously, and even I know this.

Both of these comparisons are extremely wrong. The Cesare Borgia Jesus depicted to be "an evil white male" and the so-called "Jewish" Jesus, who comes off like a pussy who let sinners continue to sin and sided with them. And if I, as an Agnostic, can see this, I only wonder what religions people would actually think (assuming they actually know anything about their own faith).

Samartians were part of the 12 hebrew tribes that left Egypt with moses and wandered the desert eventually settling in Israel. After the death of King Solomon the kingdom divided into the northern kingdom of Samaria (samartians) and in the south the Kingdom of judea (jews). Samartians believe everything thing the Jews do mostly up until the time of the book of Daniel and the babylonian exile. They've always lived in the holy land and don't mix with other non samartians. If you want to know what color Jesus was you need only look at them.

@USLegionary that is knowledgeable and I believe Jesus came to show us all human life is important to God, regardless of race or social class or even moral value, the excepting being those who actively oppose God’s work. If Jesus wanted to appear as a Pharisee, he could have, but he wanted to show outcasts they were loved by socializing with them.

There are of claims that a number of historical figures were black just because they were on the continent of Africa. Cleopatra for example despite her being a Greek. There is not much reason to suppose skin colors in the Levant are much different than they are now which would be more olive than brown.

So I think it is quite strongly slanted to be honest. Most likely didn't look like either image. But where is the harm in anybody thinking Jesus looked like they do?

The list of characteristics are particularly suspect as the only source is the bible and I think there would be difficulty in identifying passages justifying a lot of the dot points. Not that I am religious.

How do you know that both aren't accurate? He did all those things. There is a time and a season for everything. You read the Bible in context and you see that there is a time and a place for everything oh yeah... the Bible says that too a time for peace a time for war... etc.

Just like he beat the money changers. But yes he does give a chance of redemption to people like you. Your walk with Jesus is YOUR walk with Jesus, people who are lukewarm Christians and hypocrites which the Bible warns about. They aren't getting you into heaven.

We don't know what he looked like, though Ralph Nader is Middle Eastern and I remember the Black Caucus calling him an arrogant white man. As for his values, he made friends with the agents of the Roman Empire (the tax farmers, the Roman centurian), and did not like the Pharisees who didn't like Roman rule, and later were a part of the rebllion against it. He encouraged the wealthy to be charitable, giving away as much as they can to the poor, but find me a verse in which he says that the Roman Empire should be overthrown or money should be forcibly redistributed.

We do not classify Jesus as a colonizer, or a historic figure. Jesus is a saviour. Jesus was THE sacrifice who secured our freedom in eternity, and washed us clean with His blood. Jesus is Hope, Jesus is Love, and Jesus is the Way, Truth and Life.

And for that, we praise and worship the beautiful name of Jesus.

Depictions of Jesus are based on the minds of people. But truthfully, Jesus was not a white man. Jesus was a middle eastern man. Jesus brings peace, Jesus promotes Love, Jesus is the very embodiment of God's Love for us. We cannot quantify nor qualify what Jesus truly is, because God cannot be quantified or qualified by us. We have the description of Jesus in the Bible, but that is written in a way that humans are meant to read. We cannot put limitations on who God is.
