This is one of the biggest problems among Christians. We are not called to be broken up into denominations, or "sects" as the question being asked refers us to. We are called to read and obey what is in the Bible and what God tells us in prayer. The denominations only serve to divide Christians. There are no "sects" in true Christianity. A Christian is one who believes in and obeys Christ and the Bible. To add or take away from the Bible (like some denominations tend to do) is to distort God's word.

I believe in God, I don't believe in big religion. The small church/temple is close to its members and truly cares about them, but the further the organizations are from its members (higher up in the church/temple hierarchy) the less they care about the small congregations and more about their privilege of rank. The top leaders are more politicians than religious leaders, enjoying the power, wealth, and prestige over their members and the control they employ over their lives. The old saying still rings true : absolute power corrupts absolutely" religion is not immune to the sins of man.

My maternal great grandparents were Jewish, then half that side went Lutheran, but my mother sent me to Catholic schools. My paternal side, from what I know, has always been Catholic. I went to a Presbyterian church a few times.. those people like to yell! lol

I like Baptist churches because they have the nicest people but I do not have a denomination, I follow the bible and I visit all churches that have acceptable teachings and worship.

Christianity is the main religion and underneath that huge umbrella are different sects. catholicism is the biggest one.. but there's many many more like baptists, anglicans, lutherans, click the wikipedia link in my description

I promise they are not sect. It's a religious practice and a choice. My father is really involved in our city church and there is no such thing as cult and sacrifice or whatever. They are just regular people who go on Sunday to practice their faith. Same as Jewish people who go to the synagogue the Friday to practice their faith.
